I rarely have them but when I do it takes me 2 hours to feel 'normal' again but you do get the added benefit later in the day/night!!

I had 10/15 minutes on the sofa, felt great after

Nothing better than an afternoon nap and it has to be short, ie 10-15 minutes and not too late otherwise it can bugger up getting to sleep later

I don't like the ones when you have to be up or be somewhere.

I remember a cheeky nap I had a few months ago, back door open with absolutely nowhere to be or nothing to do.

I brought mine forward today to 10am we have builders in and they were amazed I could sleep through the noise, but I now won’t get to bed until about 4am and be back up at 7.30am

I always see afternoon naps as a pensioner thing. You all must be old before your time. I have a son- in-law who has naps on holiday. So wrong. only my view.

I've only ever had an afternoon snooze once when in had a big night planned, I woke up after a couple of hours and felt like a zombie for hours after. Never again.

Does me the world of good. Have one most days. No more than half hour and sometimes feels like I haven't slept it's weird but I am one of those who feels great after and splits the day lovely.

I never used to be able to, but now probably once a month or so I might do it.

Always goes one of two ways though. Either I wake up and feel good, or I wake up and feel horrendous, sometimes tempted to then fall asleep for another 5 hours or so.

Always risky!

I'm knockin' on a bit (65 next birthday) and I can say with hand on heart, I've never had an afternoon nap. I just couldn't drop off in the day (except when I worked permanent nights at the old Morris Engines plant!)

I work four 10 hour days, from 7:30 till 6pm. But a couple of days this week I felt very tired around 5:30pm, so I took a nap from 5:30 till 8.
A nap of less than a couple of hours is pointless to me as it takes me around 1/2 hr to fall asleep.
When you get older, it's important to listen to what your body is telling you and if you feel tired, take a nap.

All of us are getting older. Just some are getting older than others.

have a nap during the night instead then, either just before or just after the 3 hours. Hey presto - 6 hours sleep!

I normally go to bed around 11.30pm - midnight. Don't get up until around 9.30 - 10.00. Ah! The joys of retirement! :emoji_sleeping:

For anybody struggling to sleep get a dvd of the forest green game that will sort you out.

I had mine 11am until 1pm today lovely

How come you don't have to get up to pee at least three times a night like the rest of us?

If the bed's a bit wet and warm in the morning, I just blame my little Chihuahua who likes to kip on the bed with us! :emoji_ok_hand:

A snooze, a doze or a wee siesta does wonders, but I rarely get the chance to shit in peace.

Last one I had was a few weeks ago, I had a Monday off for 2 appointments and a blood test for vicious arthritis, got home at 12:20, ate like a caveman and had a peaceful snooze till it was school run time.

Saying that, any longer than an hour and I'm like Rick Grimes in grumpy mode.

Haven't had one for over fifty years when I was a toddler, so I wouldn't know.
No idea how anyone can fall asleep in the day. I can only sleep at night in a bed. I can't even drop off on night flights. Also I never get up in the night for a wee and I'm an old fogey (nearly)
Seems completely unnatural to me.

It's the most natural thing in the world to take a nap when you are tired. I'm usually tired mentally more than physically.
I can sleep anytime and I don't need the lights off or darkness. That's why you have eyelids.
The only thing that would disturb me would be a sudden noise, like the phone or doorbell ringing.

The necessity of a daylight snooze is entirely dependent on the person; dopamine levels, serotonin levels etc.

In places like Japan and Spain, mid day naps are actively encouraged, and employers work around these needs, or so I was told.
