If we were put as low as Wimbledon were we would go into the Midland Alliance.

I found the average attendances at these clubs here:
http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/divisions/20/ there down at the bottom.

Cov Sphinx currently best supported club with an average of 141.

We would easily start off with around 2k, and that number wold grow as the club rose back towards the FL.

The club can just be folded if not needed and money and plans put into a trust for another time or invest the cash in the Academy.

Stupot, do you live under a wet blanket? Doing nothing and being defeatist is not an option.
Even if this latest 'new stadium' rumour (that's all it is) turns out to be yet more bollox, who wants another season in Northampton? Not you, not me, nobody.
If we take our club back and reform in Coventry people will be over the moon to be free of this football misery. They'd turn out in big numbers. With that support we'd fly up the leagues. And not as many divisions required as you seem to think.
Your ancestors weren't at the back of the pub scoffing at Willy Stanley and his ideas for a football club were they?

Can't make the Charity match on Sunday but how about doing a survey at the match?

Should we start up a new team yes or no.

If yes is answered.

1 Next season
2 If a new ground is outside cov
3 After the 5 years is up
4 If they don't return to the Ricoh
Then give them options on a team name from the many mentioned.

A few months ago we at the Trust were asked by some of our members to look into this and set up a small working party. They have met with Supporters Direct and spoken to the FL about the concept.
Obviously for a number of reasons we have not taken this any further but we do have all the relevant details and information available when required.

I'm certain that Coventry Building Society would put in some level of sponsorship and one or two other local concerns.
Let's see what the JR meeting tomorrow brings. The Council may be free to speak a bit more when that is resolved.
People are sick of Sisu and their madness.
A few I've spoken to say they won't come back if Sisu are here. I'm pragmatic. If we return to the Ricoh I'll be back. But not before. & not at Elmdon or wherever.

When does it change from held hostage to relocated though?

For me as soon as the club states it has no intention to return to Coventry it's time for a new club.

Agree, if they said they are staying put in Northampton or miles away I'd give up football I think couldn't support anybody else.

If it is slightly outside Coventry I'd have to see where it was I guess.

That's going to be the rub for most and exactly how it splits people will define how successful both clubs would be going forward.

You just know with Sisu that, if they announce a new ground location, it will be just far enough out that half the fans will say "that's not in Coventry" and the other half will say "that's close enough to say it is in Coventry".

Providing a new club played in Sky Blue, were nicknamed The Sky Blues and had a badge as closely resembling the existing badge as they could legally get away with, then they become my new club. Add to that - we must use the Sky Blue Song as our club song. Otherwise I'm not interested.

I think if we were to form a breakaway club now, it would give SISU the oppurtunity to move the club to wherever it feels like. We can't give them that option yet.

When (If) a new stadium is confirmed in a location outside of coventry (I would say give or take 1 mile) then that is the right time.

At the minute people are just panicking. There is no evidence yet to support any theory. When we know 100% what is going on only then can people make decisions.

Some people are claiming they know but in reality nobody knows exactly what will happen.

Nothing wrong but you cannot plan anything properly until you have most if not all the facts.

Bit late for that comment. They have already done it. And as we all know they made their own opportunity up.

There does seem to be a bit of a mood shift about afc - I'm certainly getting more emails about it - but seems like there's 2 different scenarios. If ccfc is liquidated then that's clean slate time and the Trust would be able to start up a new club with Supporters Direct helping. But if ccfc isn't liquidated and continues to play in northants in 2014/15, then what is being suggested is setting up a rival club. My understanding is that if a new club is set up while ccfc still exists then there would be no preferential treatment. http://www.nonleague.co.uk/articles/english_pyramid.php shows the different league tiers - Premiership is tier 1 and we're tier 3 at the moment. Didn't afc Wimbledon start at tier 9? Tier 9 is where Spinx are. Tier 10 includes Alvis, Copsewood, Griff and Racing club Warwick. What would a realistic crowd be at that level for afc Coventry - 500? The Ricoh wouldn't be economically feasible so where would games be played - groundshare with Sphinx/Copsewood maybe? As I say, I'm getting more emails about this and there are a small number of people who definitely want to pursue it but a big dose of realism is needed too

In either scenario I think there needs to be plans being made now. It's no good waiting till the close season and then everyone complaining it's too late. If a new club were to start at the same level as Sphinx maybe it would be worth also investigating a method of making them 'the' Coventry team? Not suggesting we suddenly rename them or anything like that (why are they called Sphinx anyway) but more a marketing exercise / some sort of club relaunch. Would at least be worth looking into as it may avoid reinventing the wheel.

They are called the Sphinx because they were founded by workers at Armstrong Sidderley Motors. The logo of Armstrong Sidderley was the Sphinx in Egypt.

Think that is two of us Matty.

Our history is about a team in Coventry representing Coventry.

If SISU continue with this they don't appreciate what constitutes the core of the club and why the majority of fans support it. So they could move players and basically a company.

But to me the spirit of Coventry City FC would remain in Coventry like the fans. I would support the Phoenix club.

With you both on this as well.

The City of Coventry needs a professional football club playing within its boundaries. If Sisu have decided that the current CCFC is not up to that job then we need to have our own club.

seems ccfc were not the only club started from local manufacturing. this is why i say forget Coventry afc, throw your weight behind a club that already exist and historically represents your city. rather than starting a breakaway club, be breakaway fans.

Outside of Coventry is not Coventry to me.

Don't care what other teams have done, and where they play they are not my team, so if not in Cov AFC for me after nearly 50 years.

It's not about break away fans, it is about keeping the spirit of Coventry City alive...the heritage can only be transferred to a new club while SISu take name and current owning company away.

If fans want to break away go support Man U or Villa.

If a new ground is outside of Coventry then it is the club that has broke away, not us.

Like I said, Coventry needs a professional football club. If sisu are determined to take our existing club away, then we need to start our own.

Correct.so should we just stand there and let them do whatever they fee free to do to our club.
Move us away, take us out of the City for the rest of time because they don't like the council or the supporters who don't follow them.
Well let them continue on the road they have chosen and they will kill this once proud family Club shame on Sisu and shame on those that follow regardless.

I am making a case for a new club if SISU take the branded company away. The club in spirit will be left behind. SISU breaking away not the fans.
