With the transfer window closed, and the manager saying he wont be taking in loans , how can we bring players in then , we really need some more bodies, the squad is very small, once injuries come suspensions loss of form etc this good start could quickly evaporate.:thinking about:

I believe we can sign players who are not contracted to another club ie freebies

Well Josh Carson (Released by Ipswich, Good young Winger) is set to join York City and with Pressley ruling out a loan signing he is putting faith in the current squad, but I have no reason to complain its working so far and if we can maintain this form then why waste the wage budget by bringing in another to player to warm the bench.

Nobody has said the squad isn't good enough. I would even go as far as saying we have the best striker partnership. The defence could be better though. The problem is what will happen when we start getting injuries?

I think they run that tag pretty close with Jay Emmanuel Thomas and Sam Baldock of Bristol City..

The defence is not that terrible Jordan Clarke from what I was told after Sunday was really impressive at CB, just eradicating the little mistakes we are making and building on it.

He said if we get injuries, suspensions or the form drops he might look into loans.

We still have someone on trial don't we? Extended for an extra week?

moussa was an exception to the rule, there is always an exception to the rule. Would defiantely add 1 or 2 just for completion for places and injuries and suspensions as they will come. don't wait for it to happen before acting. injuries and suspensions are certain, sort it now.

Where has Pressley said he won't be making loan signings? Have I missed something?

Oh, plenty of people said this before the season, whilst I remained confident stating we only desperately needed CBs, and lacked depth, I felt we weren't too far away from a playoff standard team, the reaction was, well quite negative, and that's without a fair few players have pleasantly surprised me e.g. Wilson.

I think we have possibly just got enough depth so long we aren't hit with an injury crisis.

So desperately need defenders and lacking in depth means our squad is good enough?

There is a big difference between having a team that is good enough and having a squad that is good enough.

Yes. I felt bar CB the team would get on just fine, midfield, there was always depth, L.Clarke got in L1 team of the year so obviously that wasn't an area of weakness (maybe a cover needed but Wilson and Manset) been but we signed a CB in the summer so I think playoffs may be on the cards but obv a points deduction won't help!

Certainly wasn't one of those people who were making out relegation was a dead certainty!

Also, look at last season, under MR, we bearly rotated the squad and that worked well to a point, and I imagine SP has his ideal XI he'll stick with... We didn't need nowhere near the amount of players we had last season.

I have money on us getting promoted. The odds were too big to resist :thinking about:

But we will be in trouble once the injuries start coming if nobody else comes in.

What were the odds?

I think people are underestimating our depth.

GK: Murphy, Burge
RB: Christie, Clarke, Phillips, Willis
CB: Clarke, Webster, Willis
LB: Adams, Haynes, Clarke
RM: Baker, Daniels, Moussa
CM: Fleck, Thomas, Lobjoit, Barton, Daniels
LM: Moussa, Garner, Fleck
ST: Wilson, Clarke, Manset

Don't get me wrong, as we can see, a lot of players are in more than just 1 position, so we have the depth to cover a few injuries, but, major crisis could really screw us, but chances of that is low. Couple of signings are needed, but we don't need to rush it, as SP regurgitates, it's about bringing in the 'right player'.

I got 28/1.....but higher odds than that were available. Think 40/1 was the best.

Considering people were saying 'who would want to join CCFC', then we attract a Scottish intn'l CB and ST with apparently, a lot of potential and if anything, after our start, we are more attractive to join an at the minute, the sky is the limit for our young squad.

Hope So!

Dont see the point in loans when you have players like Hogg, Bramble and Davies out of contract. Healy's a bit old but could be a good option, My Phail is another who I would love us to sign and give us some more depth

Players like that can be past it e.g. De Zeeuw.

Healy played 16 games for Bury last year, scored 1, a pen v us. In fact, his whole career he's been average and has lived off his intn'l reputation i.e. a handful of good performances.

Not hard though is it?

Didn't they just lose to Luxembourg? Wasn't it the first Euro qualifying game they had won since 1972?

Would I be in wrong in thinking a loan of Nunes to January, would be an opportunity for him to see if he suits Cov and vice verser.
Then in Jan he becomes a free agent and joins.
Would a loan in such circumstances not come with a condition that he has to play?
Would it not be the case that he would need to force his way into the team to earn a contract in January.
Blackburn get him off the wage bill in Jan.
Surely it would be a loan with a view to a permanent deal?
