Sorry if this has already been posted but I could's spot it elsewhere, hence the new thread

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...n-is-octobers-premiership-player-of-the-month

Anyone else see that Adam Barton won the latest "player of the month" for the Scottish Premier?? Plays for Partick Thistle now after they paid a fee to Pompey to take him.

Nice lad apparently - a mate of mine met Graham Westley who had managed him at Preston and said he'd prefer to be a musician than a footballer. He was not great for us, to say the least, and to see him winning in the "best player" award in the Scottish top flight shows just how weak the SPL has become.

I remember the days not that long ago when Rangers and Celtic would have beaten any team in the Premier League - the likes of Mark Hateley, Paul Lambert, Lorenzo Amorouso, Ally McCoist, Mo Johnston, Henrik Larrsson, John Collins, Brian Laudrup, Paul McStay and Jorg Albertz would have walked into most English sides, just as so many other Scottish players did before them. Now the best player in that division is Adam Barton. No wonder WGS is struggling for results.

The best player isn't Barton. He's won player of the month.

..... but I take your point, Scotland has stopped producing top quality footballers.

Saying that, Kieran Tiernay is qualify and will be in a top EPL team next season.

EPL money talks.

Ex city player wins an accolade. Half the fan base gush while the other half melt down.

Congratulation Adam.

Players only seem to achieve their full potential when they leave us.

Don't hate him, nice lad by all accounts. But if he is amongst the best players in the SPL it really does shine a light on the state if Scottish football.

Always had the ability and talent. Was just in the wrong league. One of a few that Pressley held back and treated like crap.

Don't disagree but it still speaks volumes that he has been voted PotM in the Scottish top flight.

To be fair when he was with us, he was coming back from a career threatening injury and was a 'bit shy in the tackle' ..........understandably. He had a bit of skill, maybe he has gained his confidence back now ?
