ACL Looking For Alternative To CCFC
According to a tweet from the Coventry Telegraph's Les Reid, Coventry City Council and Arena Coventry Limited are looking for a sports franchise to play at the Ricoh Arena.
Mr Reid tweeted: "Inside sources tell me council/ACL definitely been seeking "sports francise" for Ricoh Arena."
Covsupport News Service also understands that plans to attract a team playing another sport have been on the drawing board for a while but now it is clear that Coventry City FC, whilst Tim Fisher and Joy Seppala are ruining the club (sic), won't be returning, plans to find another team to use the 32,000 capacity stadium have come off the backburner to a more forward position.

So if Coventry Rugby Club got an investor in, moved to the Ricoh & romped up to the top of the AVIVA Premiership...you'd never go watch?

I read somewhere that the Coventry Bears (Rugby League) club were pushing for a big investment over the next few years with aims to joining the Super League. Wonder if they might be interested.

If Coventry Rugby Club moved in because they needed the extra capacity, this would be good.

If Northampton Rugby Club moved in, this would be bad.

We best hope this is just postering, otherwise the club is well and truly dead.

The Cov Bees could move in whilst SISU rebuild Brandon to suit their needs (a portakabin, burger van & jumpers for goalposts). If marketed properly to the large Polski population in Cov, numbers could eclipse ccfc attendance.

If Coventry are not coming back it makes good business sense.
Why stick with an empty bowl.

Well lets hope Sisu don't muck around too long or we will be finished for good.

This is my biggest fear SISU's gamble fails and us the fans lose

We all thought Sisu moving to Northampton was bluff.

We were wrong. Let's hope this is bluff too otherwise it could seal CCFC at Northampton for possibly 5 years.

Completely agree. Can't moan about our club moving and then take another club from another city.

"We"? I certainly didn't. I hoped against hope it was a bluff and I'm pretty sure ACL have talked to a number of parties. It would be logical for ACL to make that their next move.

If ACL are now looking for another sport to fill the stadium why the hell did the ACL board turn down Wasps rugby club when the previous ACL, CEO had a deal on the table ready to sign for them to move to the Ricoh and ground share with CCFC!?? The ACL board are so short sighted, they could have avoided this disaster if they had a joined up strategy! Muppets

You are slightly misguided in that belief. There is not a speedway team in the country who can dream of attaining crowds of over 5000 fans each week. The sport would never attract as many as the City (playing at the Ricoh) on a regular basis.

I consider myself to be liberal minded but he does have a point, if grown men want to grope each other they don't need a ball and it should be done in the comfort of their own home.

...... and with Sisu having no intention, permission, finance to build a stadium CCFC is finished. Full stop.

I'm hoping that a poor attendance on Sunday at Northampton will be tipping point for SISU.
It could force them over the edge, but how we pick up the pieces I don't know.
I just wish fans would hold off for 1 match to force the point more strongly.

It should be still under 1k home fans on Sunday, if that doesnt force the point then nothing will.

Why ever not, may not be anything going onto the pitch?
Are you going to Northampton?

But with speedway and greyhound meets several times a week, revenues could eclipse CCFC revenues. And it wouldnt take a lot of work to rebuild a stand for more hospitality.

Timotei promised us we'd see the plans of the White Elephant within weeks of the forums and remember

Tim Fisher said:
"People have to understand we do not posture, we do not threaten, because that is not how you do business, you only do business in good faith"

So that bit about the stadium obviously wasn't posturing which leaves me wondering where are the plans for us to see?

Greyhounds....now you're talking. The dogs can do a little dump on the pitch as they are led over to the starter cages..
