You think the club were trying to sign up long term as in 10-20 years?
Just need to wait for the contradictory statement. If the club is trying to get something long term sorted, but they sort it with wasps etc then it's clearly because the club wouldn't commit long term...

All part of the city of rugby initiative by CCC, they want Coventry to become renowned for Rugby so no surprise they want Wasps to have exclusive use of the best facilities in the city.From the conversation I had, this is very much part of the CCC sports strategy and would have happened regardless of whether our academy were on a long contract or not.

Anderson said on cwr phone in they have have asked for a long term deal at the higgs centre.You have lost me there. I thought he was just looking at another 2 year deal like with everything else that gets signed up.
To be honest a was really chuffed and surprised when Jones was signed for 4 years.

Are the facilities at Higgs good enough if we became a PL club or our Academy achieved top status?

I haven't heard that interview.
Anderson was in the phone ind, Friday night (around 25 mins in), only caught thr last couple of minutes but he mentioned that they have told highs they want to stay long term, he was also very non committal about the stadium situation.

That's presuming wasps will want to share facilities, costs, and staff. Personally I don't think they will, they have their costed business which they keep telling us its thriving.Thanks Stu

Hopefully this means long term commitment to the Ricoh as well.
I really do think they need to get round the table now with wasps and start sharing facilities, staff and costs before it is too late.

“If we are able to improve the deal at the stadium, we will be able to put more money on the pitch.”
But it came from the Telegraph so must be shit......Seems to me the thinking all round is a lot longer term since Anderson has come in. Jones is the longest contract since David Bell, young players are being signed who won't be ready for the first team for a couple of years at least and there is talk from the club of staying at the Ricoh and Higgs long term.

They will get increased income if we sign a long term rental deal they'll make more from the stadium sponsorship, rent and matchday earnings than they will save from from sharing a ticket office and giving us half the income.I would be surprised if they were not interested in increasing incomes and reducing costs.

Why would they want to do that? They can earn more money by screwing us, they have the monopoly on stadiums, there's very little staffing we could share, and what facilities? Offices at the Ricoh? They would charge us rent for that. Shop? The ricoh shop is barely big enough for one club, its nowhere near big enough to share, besides we have alreafy commissioned it out, it costs us nothing. Ticketing? We both have contracts with ticket master. The stewards are the same anyway. Medical staff? Great who has the physio when we both play on the same day? Media? Great we won't recruit to kierans vacent post, oh, so what happens when we play on the same day? The current staffing levels for both clubs are already doing full time jobs, cuts mean stretching staff too fine, which club do you think will get the raw deal of that?They can do both by giving us a bigger share of revenue not half.

A joint academy/training facility - we already have a training facility which is paid for and we own, why would we move? That would require us to put in significant capital in the millions. When they move in at higgs and the pool is built the indoor pitches will be gone and that will mean the end of our academy.
Physiotherapists - already got them, if you share and reduce what happens on matchdays? We often play home/away at the same time?
Doctors - already have a club doctor. As above.
Sports psychologists - as above
Marketing Staff - as above. We spend far less on marketing than wasps, joining costs here would in all probability see us subsidising them. Are you saying we shouldn't recruit to kierans vacent post?
Advertising - I can only see losses here. Company A can sponsor us for £x or wasps for £y. Jointly selling advertising would need to be a discount so will probably lead to a loss. Wasps won't want to share sponsorship, they will want to dominate in this area because they need the money.
Promotional schemes - again, we need all the revenue we can get, there won't be a big enough increase in tickets to cover reduction in tickets
A joint contract with Ticket master - probably won't see that much of a saving given that its mainly paid via customers booking fee

Plus neither club wants spit fan base, they want them committed to their brand, brad loyalty and all that.
