Finch ? Why does he keep being mentioned, hasn't played a first team match for months and is learning his game in the under 21s i assume. Looks to me when/if he does get a chance he will be ridiculed before he starts. What strange supporters we have !

Yep fortune and Phillips at fault for first goal and you could argue Phillips got pushed

The Cobblers player grabbed Phillips and threw him to the floor. He can't be blamed at all. Thomas should've headed the ball and Fortune should've cleared too as you can see here https://twitter.com/cj_covblaze/status/663066271727140864

As for the second goal Ricketts has a lot to answer for https://twitter.com/cj_covblaze/status/6663065670171643904

2nd goal was down to Burge. Ricketts wanted the short pass as we usually play but Burge decided to boot up the pitch. Came straight back and they scored. Ricketts tore him off a strip.

It was too high or Thomas to reach. Fortune was goal side and should she headed it out.

Yeah both not good enough and both have been found out along with Finch that they are not good enough to be playing for us currently. If it wasn't for out paper thin squad i think it's safe to say neither would be near our first team squad.

It's too early to write Finch off but the omens aren't good.

He doesn't get involved, he doesn't break up play, he routinely gives the ball away, passes rarely find anyone in a blue shirt. He's not a youngster any more. He's played plenty of football. His game isn't improving and he doesn't add anything to the team. I would get rid.

All personal opinion, of course.

He does get involved and does break up play. He's a useful player to have around and despite my comments it's possibly unfair to write him off on the basis of one game.

Were Finch
It may pay to develop him as a CB
Where he has been used before?

With his centre half and captain in that position Burge shouldn't come into the equation.

I used to rate phillips, the goal he scored away at wolves always sticks in my mind. I still think he's a decent player, but he looks like he's lacking confidence. The penalty he gave away early in the season and then the maradona hand of god attempt in his own box last week hasnt helped him and it showed Saturday.

Defensive replacements are required. Ideally we need another richard keogh, but they dont come cheap. Tough ask for mowbray to get a respectable replacement in on whatevers remaining in the budget. 3 month loan till Willis is back? or maybe he has someone lined up for when january comes?

As I said it was my opinion, and I'm certainly not basing that opinion on one game, but the majority he's played for us. As someone pointed out he's played a 100 first team games.

I can't see what he brings to the table.

Think there's potential still there, still a player In him
His size doesn't help but there been plenty of full backs In game over the years no bigger than him.
Maybe It's where his head Is at currently?
Could he be developed into a defensive midfielder.
If It's to do with his head maybe he needs a move and a fresh start.

I did wonder if the little twitter kerfuffle that his Dad was involved in, ref: him being dropped seemingly (from his POV) for no reason, had in fact affected him quite a lot?

I think its apparent Mowbray doesn't have faith in him and I do think that affects him.

That's my view so a move and fresh start would appear best for all
I do think he'll make It somewhere most likely at this level.

Martin came into the team and Ricketts played at right back.

Dave Phillips tweeted no Aaron today, CCFC ultra defensive before the match. Official line was unwell but the consensus is that he was dropped and didn't like it.

In a way this comes back to a subject I've raised a few times and I don't think It's been realised just what a big shift In the owners approach, TM has managed to achieve.
As a result the path appears blocked for progression for 5-6 players who came through under other regimes and I have to say alleluia for that,as I think we can see the Impact on the pitch.
Only the genuine articles should then have a pathway through to the team.

Hmm, it could of course be argued that we affect the long term progression for short term gain.

Personally I'd put it down to being a little more prosaic, that some players look better under certain managers. Andy Whing's a top example, looked great when he burston the scene under McAllister (was... alright I suppose under Adams), but ropey under Black and onwards.

Sometimes, personalities and styles just mesh or otherwise.

It Is odd that I find myself coming to that conclusion.
Put a Sky Blue shirt on any of them and there would be no bigger advocate than me re supporting them on the pitch.
The result was very near two relegations as a consequence.
Halting that reliance has turned the tables I think and It Is all about where we are In the pyramid for me.
I'd ha e possibly carried on with about 8-10 games In div 4 but boy It would have hurt
I reckon the decline would have continued, the Academy would have gone
Potential none league awaited
Sorry for being so cheerful

A bit unfair really, in that the Sixfields season had -10 points and despite that we competed well for much until falling away.

Last season was... odd. Arguably Pressley caused some of it with his (lack of) man management.

I dunno, ever since Adebola came back a different player, I've been reluctant to write anybody off. tbf Phillips has yet to show anything other than (maybe) potential and he's in his 20s now?

But also tbf he's currently the reserve right back... and what better option would a League 1 club have for the reserve right back?

Or third choice, quite Injury prone himself too, which has hampered his progression.
