A bit odd.

Can't see how this is good news. We have just lost a defender in Hines, so just go and swap a defender for another defender, leaving us still short of one defender.

Also weakens our right back position. We now have only Aaron Philips and Jordan Willis for the right back slot and SP has said that he sees Jordan Willis very much as a centre back.

This is not at all a good move unless there is another right back coming in. There was a rumour we had another right back on trial, so maybe we have already made a decision on him. I do sincerely hope so.

Jordan Clarke has had a poor season so far, but we do need to strengthen rather than lose defenders and we simply cannot just have 2 vying for the right back position, with one of them a young player who has only made 17 starts and the other, predominately a centre back.

Let's hope this rumour thing is true and that we have already addressed that imbalance.

I have got nothing against JC personally but to think how many games (100+) and probably 5 were decent performances he just highlights for me everything wrong of the last say 4-5 years. He tries hard but is just a body on the pitch. I hope his loan move works out but Yeovil seem to have the rougher end of the deal here. He has played every game for Yeovil bar the last three so seems to still be doing well.

Still think we need a CM also.

I agree with what your saying Otis, but let's be fair Jordan Clarke hasn't had a good start to the season.. Jordan Willis did well at RB on Saturday IMO, Aaron Phillips has done well when called upon, I would like the security of an extra number there, but if it came to it, I wouldn't mind throwing one the U18's in as cover, they're having a cracking season right now and I am sure throwing a Youngster in as cover would be an incentive for them as we have seen Thomas and Maddison

You may wish to edit or delete this, Rob, cos out of curiosity I jut voted 'no' to see how it affected the poll and it immediately went to 50% yes / 50% no, therefore suggesting that just one person had voted previously.

1 no and 1 yes doesn't exactly make for a) a accurate poll and b) give any vindication it might be popular.

I was the first to vote at 6.20am and it went straight to 100% and I thought then that's only my vote to be fair.

You just wait till somone fires up their 'yes' finger.

CT polls accept multiple voting and it will suddenly jump from 1 saying yes to eleventy billion in favour.

Only some cov fans could disagree with a decision to let one of our worst players go.

It's fine to let him go, but only if we replace him.

To be honest I do get what Otis is saying, but Jordan Clarke hasn't been good and Aaron Martin, IMO, is a good centre back who has obviously been a long term target for the Manager.

The RB cover situation is one of those, but I say chuck Dion Kelly-Evans in as cover, Andy will sure be able to confirm this, but Dion Kelly-Evans has impressed in the U18's this season and the U18's squad is doing really well as a team and the players deserve that route to the first team.

Let's not forget about our beloved 3-5-2 either. If SP wants to persist with this, as it stands, we now just have Philips for that one right wing back slot.

We have to replace Clarke, simple as. It's nothing to do with him being crap or not, but has everything to do with replacing him with a centre back and therefore us losing a right back.

I'm not so sure throwing in yet another kid is the answer.

We need a new right back. Let's hope the rumour is true.

Well i just voted yes and it says 100% so don't know where your vote is.

Very good deal imo. Clarke has been shocking whenever I have seen him.

Phillips and Willis are more than enough options at rb.

I wonder if he has a more natural wing back in mind and will be going back to the wing back system when he gets him

Clarke never looked that comfortable as a wing back anyway.

That's what I mean is sp going back to wing backs and has someone in mind.
TBF to JC he needs to cement a normal RB position or CB in a team and play it week in week out.
Maybe Yeovil can to that for him

Still remember a game where he struggled to make 10 yard passes to feet. Might have just been an off day.

I think that the fans had lost faith in Clarke. I recall seeing several posts from fans *expecting* him to score own goals every week.

It's OK though, because this is how they choose which news to delve behind the surface of or not

What they'll do is to wait until they have about a thousand votes and then if it's 80% or so saying yes, it will change the poll title to 'Do you believe the Coventry Telegraph has conducted themselves without bias during the Wasps takeover situation!'

I liked Martin and was disappointed when we missed out on him when he went to Birmingham. Would be very happy to see him return though as thought he was a very good player for us and would add a lot to our defence.

As for Clarke, whilst I agree with Otis, one defender coming in and two effectively going out (one through a loan and one through a months injury) does seem a bit counter productive. But I do think the time has probably come for Clarke to try something a bit different.

I'm surprised Yeovil would let Martin go if he's played all but three of their games. They can't rate Jordan Clarke that highly can they?
