First game that I've watched this season, went down the local to watch it... not what I'd call a football pub but there was well in excess of 100 watching.
First the game, three really good goals, the movement up top was too good for this level and after 60 mins we were well worth the lead. The front 6 going forward are not going to be bettered in this league. Without the ball it's a different story and while individually we managed to put in some good last ditch tackles, our defending as a unit still needs some work
All in all an entertaining game with the typical City twist of trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
So where does that leave me? Will I go to Sixfields... No. The game is about mates, a few beers, camaraderie, and a sense of justice or injustice to discuss/defend/argue around after the game.
These were all available with people I did not know down the pub. There were a couple of Freebie tickets floating around and the sight of these in contrast with almost empty stands tells you how much people are determined not to go.
Sport in general is so much better live, and especially so when there is an atmosphere. I can't see Sixfields having that particular attraction whatever your view.
However, my after match view... second season without a season ticket. Last year it was because the football was so dire when we went down my son was not interested. This year it looks like the team is worth supporting... but not in Northampton.
I really worry, my view is this... the club need to own/be in control of all the necessary assets in Coventry to make us successful. However that needs investment and I see no "Outward" evidence of this having happened under Sisu. I am happy for Sisu to have the Ricoh Stadium as long as they pay the going rate, this will show that they are interested in investing in the club.
The fact that a lot of people are "Pro" CCC, speaks volumes about how badly Sisu are doing. Whatever side of the political fence you are on no-one supports their local Council.
