Our whole future lay at the feet of two forwards 18 months ago, Clarke and Wilson. In years to come we could show people just what a little hard-work, commitment and self-management can do by comparing these two over the past 18 months. Now Wilson gets promoted to the Premier and is being touted as £12million player, whereas Clarke has just been released by Wolves.

You are correct. I listened to that old campaigner Joe Royal a bit back being interviewed and he said one thing you need to be a challenger is a 20 goal a season striker, we had 2 and Moussa in the high teens. What an opportunity missed but then we have a c.e.o. playing football manager with us don't we.

No we had SP pretending to be a football manager.

Unfair comparrison, 2 players at completely different stages in their career, Wilson was full of potential and that has been fullfilled through hard work, Clarke was fullfilling his full potential when with us, didnt really have much more to give, no ammount of "hard work" would have seen him valued a 12 mill striker.

To be fair to Clarke, I did not see him playing 26 championship matches at the start of the season, which he has.

He'll be knocking on the door of every club in south yorkshire now, expect to see him at one of Sheff U, Rotherham or Barnsley next season.

If you can get a bet on C Wilson to be in the England squad for France 2016 that may be worth £2.

Sorry, but it's sometimes difficult to put what you want to say into words. Of the two for footballing ability I believe Clarke has more skill and can score with any part of his body, legally. Wilson uses the few skills he has and developes them. I bet Wilson also turns down a few clubs over the summer and I wouldn't mind betting he starts the season with The Cherries. He knows what, and who, is best for his career.

Hope you're right and he does stay with Bournemouth but Wilson has just recently changed his agent, which is ominous!

Disagree with any of these factors (little hard-work, commitment and self-management ) making a difference in the last 18 months of both players' careers.

Wilson has so much more natural ability as a forward, he made the step up at the right time and has flourished in the Championship.

Clarke was never going to turn down the chance to return to his boyhood club, prove the Wolves fans wrong and get a promotion too (An increase in wages may have had something to do with this).

Regrettably for CCFC, both players self-management was on point. Commitment and hard work were evident in their time here.

And yet at the time Clarke left many on here believed that Wilson's goals would dry up

dont be an idiot. wilson is younger and better. and if not better has way more potential.

also i could play in that bournemouth team and score so i am pretty sure clarke would have grabbed a fair few too.

you may have a point about personalities but i doubt thats why wolves released him

Yeah you cannot compare the two, both at different stages of career and lead the line in a different way. Clarke drops deep and holds the ball up and turns, Wilson was a 'knock it 10 yards forward and I have the pace' kind of player. Boy does it work!

I was angry when Clarke left but looking back I can't really blame him

I think the majority of fans felt that way. He left when we were on a roll but as you state 'you can't blame him'. We never replaced him, and the rest, as they say, is history.
