Now that Jim's watching over us from his Sky Blue cloud, maybe he can sway it with the Big Guy upstairs to help us out a bit.

Legends are seldom, and pioneers are sparse - Our Jim was both, and as a club, we really should find a suitable way of respecting him I.E. An additional song, an addition to the kit, anything really.

I'd like to see his statue moved to the city centre and some kind of memorial garden for him.

Didn't the franchise rename his bar?

The statue needs to be left outside the ground we play at so all fans can remember him when we watch our team.

Shouldn't we have a Jimmy Hill stand???

I know we don't have a stadium but when/if we do there should be a Jimmy Hill Stand....

RIP Jimmy...

Was emotional and perhaps came out better as it was a spontaneous off the cuff thing, a chap by me didn't know Jimmy had passed away until he got to the ground bet there was a few like that and the applause on 87 minutes was special too the lights etc something for the young fans to remember just hope all that didn't hinder us a bit.

I found out at ground when I saw scarves and flowers on statue then thought oh shit and checked on here to confirm. Nice picture BTW, although you should have been clapping ;-)

I now know why we were a bit off the pace at times yesterday, it appears we only had 10 players.

Can we keep this about the memorial stuff and the Jimmy Hill statue? I can see it going down the route of Wasps, then Italia and Tony will be in their element.

If anybody else has pictures from yesterday feel free to put them up!

I think it's CJ who got a picture on the Daily Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-pioneer-s-seven-year-battle-Alzheimer-s.html

Did they ask you to pose or good timing?

Hi folks, Oldham fan in peace here. I was on the other side of the ground and was really impressed when this started happening from the 87th minute. All the best!

Yep, Fleck was in there yesterday. Good seats and great facilities in that stand.

Cheers rowouk. Thanks for pictures. A very emotional day all round. I didn't realise JH had died until son and I arrived at ground.
What always impresses is the away players/staff and fans very respectful in joining in applause etc.

Must admit, it brought a lump to my throat when i saw the way our fans joined in on 87 mins. I expected respect at the kick off, which was superb from all corners of the ground but often when something spontaneous starts, not everyone cottons on to what is happening. It was a very respectful celebration of a truly remarkable mans life. Makes you proud to be human....i hope his family got to see the footage.

I know Nick said he didn't want this thread to go down the Wasps route, but I wonder if anything could be done to rename the stand where the Coventry fans are congregated.

Even if it was only named 'The Jimmy Hill Stand' during Coventry matches? At the end of the day the stand isn't sponsored or named anything other than the 'East Stand'.

Fair play to you and the rest of Oldham's travelling fans, mate.

As much as yesterday was frustrating, your lads deserved a point. Hope you pull your season round, cheers.
