I'm cautious, but never ever save.As there are a couple of threads currently on about gambling it got me thinking about something that cropped up recently. My son loves to bet on the football, horses, and dogs, while I just have a few quid on football matches. He thinks nothing of putting thirty quid on a horse or dog,and if it comes up he'll then stick his winnings on the next race and so on. He laughs at me putting three quid on a football bet, calling me Scrooge but I'm careful with money in the bookies, and do it more out of interest to make it more fun etc.A mate in the pub also puts fifty quid on a bet which would have me sweating ! By the way both are always skint ! So are you thrifty or a spendthrift ?
Same as me Otis I'm that bloke who will give you his last penny and buy friends and family things, but hate the thought of spending my hard earned cash on chance or luck.I'm cautious, but never ever save.
I am very free with my money, buying presents and stuff, so never, ever mean, but wouldn't have £30 bet on anything unless I was really, really confident of whatever it was paying out.
My uncle would put £300 on a dog, no problem.
I avoid slot machines and casino's and hardly ever bet.
Guess I would describe myself as sensible. Refuse to have a credit card, so always stay in the black.
Think the most I have put on a horse is £25, but that was because I had a dream about this horse (a horse I had never even heard of before and had no idea it was running the next day) and it won. I was very, very confident of it winning, otherwise I wouldn't have had the bet.
Can easily blow my money on something though and then just live hand to mouth.
No! I wish.Same as me Otis I'm that bloke who will give you his last penny and buy friends and family things, but hate the thought of spending my hard earned cash on chance or luck.
I love a bet and a go on the lottery but keep it sensible. My son came close to a right hook when he borrowed cash but I found out it went in the bookies,he kept away for a while !
By the way had any lucid dreams lately on winning horses ?
About dreams, I often dream about someone I haven't seen for ages, and lo and behold I bump in to them not long after. My late father once dreamt like you the night before a big race, think it was the National, about some obscure horse that he'd never ever heard about, and it was that clear and lucid as it won easily in the dream,he knew it was going to win the race the next day. But he wasn't a gambler on horses,so never had a flutter on it,and yes you've guessed the rest it won.My mum gave him loads of stick as it was an outsider and would have won him a fair bit of cash !No! I wish.
The horse was so random. Gem Bien it was called and it hadn't run for a couple of months, so there is no way I just picked up on it from previous days or races. Had a dream and the horse's name just came into my head.
Looked the next morning and lo and behold Gem Bien was running.
Even then the cautious side of me made me only bet on it each way.
Won £180 on it.
Yeah, well that's the thing. I hardly ever bet at all, but if something pops up in a dream I have a go on it, because otherwise I feel I might live to regret it forever and a day.About dreams, I often dream about someone I haven't seen for ages, and lo and behold I bump in to them not long after. My late father once dreamt like you the night before a big race, think it was the National, about some obscure horse that he'd never ever heard about, and it was that clear and lucid as it won easily in the dream,he knew it was going to win the race the next day. I'm glad you don't put that type of money down every time you hear those rumours! My biggest bet was £25 on Alan Curbishley to be the next city manager after him being spotted at the Ricoh by somebody I knew and somebody losely connected to the club confirming it waste of money can't think who got the job might have been Bothroyd at a guess.
