Only 12 points off 2nd place with 34 games to go, but no chance of a top 6 finish? We have just shown we can play better than a top 6 side at their place. A top 6 side that should be there at the end of the season, yet we have no hope? If we get just under 0.4 points more per game than 2nd place we will beat them. We have to play all the top teams. They have to play each other. All teams go on a bad run. There are teams with small squads. Just wait until injuries and suspensions start. Them 12 points can soon be closed. Each win bow will move us up the table. We had been cast adrift under Shaw. We have caught up the teams above us now. No teams will be looking forward to playing us like they did a few weeks ago. We are in 20th, but only 2 points away from 14th.

May depend if we keep McGoldrick, who is going to score the goals to get us in the top 6? At the moment yes possible, but I feel unlikely, more chance of winning the JPT.

early days yet .......... like what Robins says and the way he approaches things .......... lets actually get to consistently winning our games before deciding we are top six though. Yes it can be done but there has been a lot of damage done in recent years in terms of quality, confidence, belief, etc and it will take time to knock that into shape. We are not out of the woods yet and it isnt inconceivable that we could be in bottom 4 by end of weekend .......... of course we could be 16th too

we need to be in the top ten by xmas and we'll have a good shout for the play offs and a half chance at top 2 can't see tranmere keeping their run going much longer no team is running away with the league so theirs still hope

Well Grendel, we do have to start winning more of these games but as for "not a hope"... There's hope until it's mathematically not possible, which is a long way off yet.

Fair enough but some people on here are saying top 6 as a minimum. Based on what? We have a couple of wins but still have struggled defensively and our only source of goals is likely to go in January. Yes it will improve and if Robins had been here since May then yes but we are not good enough to allow other teams an 8 game head start.

I think it's based on an upturn in form. Sure, we've thrown away leads still but we've looked a stronger, more together outfit. Unbeaten in 4 in the league and I suppose supporters are hoping we'll gather momentum. The other hope is that those teams that have started off well will go through patches of bad form. We need more goals, that's not in question. But it's also not impossible. Confidence is what is needed and the more games we can go unbeaten the more that will build. For the record, I'm not saying it will happen, I can see both sides.

A quick question. As the 37% are predicting that we will finish top 6 now that Robins is in charge, and I presume this is based on the fact you think the squad is good enough, that there are enough games left and the gap isn't already too big.

Based in that can I assume that if we fail to reach the top 6 Robins should be viewed as a failure?

I'd go with 13th.

Games like Saturday evidence that we're miles away. I can't reconcile people thinking that finishing in the top 6 is achievable yet Saturday's result was a good one.

Saturdays result was a good one. Don't see how you can call it otherwise, before Saturday a point at a promotion favourite was seen as good. We very nearly won it, you can not say the 2 injuries did not affect us. So overall yes it was good. What we need to do is win our home games, we are at last competing away. I do believe Robins is astute enough to replace Mc G with another Goalscorer should he leave in Jan. The lads he has brought in are showing promise, and also Fleck, Elliott are improving all the time. In my opinion i can not understand how people are writing the season off all ready. I do recall Palace were in the bottom 6 at Christmas and a certain Mr Dowie took them up from a much tougher league.

I'm not saying we are definitely going to make top 6, we have a chance no more no less. The difference now is that the players have the belief they can win every game and should, whereas under Thorn/Shaw the morale of the players was zero and this was shown on the pitch.

I've voted bottom half, a decision that was made by my head not my heart. I just think it's too late to start to steamroller teams. By the time Robins has them playing how he wants it'll be Christmas, which is may just be a tad too late. I hope I'm proved wrong, but I've been gullible on this point before. As the saying goes 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...'
