I’ve actually read quite a bit about your situation and the proposed move already, so know a bit about your plight. Personally I’d despise the thought of having to play “home” games 30 miles away in Northampton when you’ve got a perfectly good stadium. You didn’t mention it, but you visited us in a pre-season friendly on 28th July 2007 and we had a great day drinking and socialising in the town with your fans. If I remember correctly that game came about because Iain Dowie (another ex-NI international) was your manager at the time. Another local lad - Michael Hughes – made his debut for you that day too, and you only beat us 6-0!
Unfortunately I’m just the webmaster so I have absolutely no say in whether or not we’d be able/willing to send a team over, but I’ll pass the email onto the secretary and let him deal with it. Just so you’re aware, Celta Vigo were invited to play in a tournament at our ground over the coming weeks but they refused to – citing our pitch as the reason for not coming. Frankly, I’m not surprised as it’s currently in a terrible state right now – it’s a council owned ground and let’s just say their care of it leaves a lot to be desired!
Anyways, I’ll pass this message on and also wish you the best of luck with somehow managing to stay at your home.
