We won't get near the play off's like this. Lack of ambition by SISU and still no business plan to stabalise the finances of the club. Time to go SISU. Get someone in with VISION.

You're not a high figure at the club. You have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. Maybe a couple of loan players is the best we can hope for due to our financial situation. If it is the best we can get, I'd rather we went for it rather than leaving it because an unhappy fan says "no thanks"

The last few seasons we have been slagged off for not signing up and coming players from the Premiership on loan.

This year people are moaning because we are looking at it.

The club can do no right in certain peoples eyes

It's about quality...

We have let some top players go and this is the best SISU can come up with? Sell to Hoffman now!

Jordan henderson.. was an unknown player when we had him on loan.. now look at him..

Zavon hines on loan a couple of years ago.. if I remember he scored a goal which helped keep us up.

If you'd rather we went out and bought top quality young players and given them 3 year contracts, why don't you pump some money into the club?

Unfortunately, given our financial situation, we have no other choice but to look to bring in PL loans and free transfers. It would be lovely if we could bring in big players, pay them good wages and compete in the upper echelons of the league, but we've got to be realistic.
The loan system does work, it has worked for us before and has also worked for plenty of teams in this league. It's actually disappointing that we don't us it more in my opinion.

Didn't Hines get 1 goal in 9 sub performances? He hardly kept us up. He was just all we could get at the time. I remember Coleman, almost word for word, saying "He's no way near ready, he's just a baby really, but we're down to the bare ones"! THATS the sort of player we'll end up with. Not Yakubu or Kyle Walker.

He scored in a game which we won by 1 goal.

Every little helps.. this should mean more to us than anybody seeing the relegation battles we've endured over the years!

My point is he was a fringe player who mostly made very little impact. Do we really want to loan someone who isn't in our best XI? Or someone who isn't ready, but we have to pick as part of a loan agreement (Ward)? In the same situation, a Roy O'donovan or Clive Platt could probably contribute 1 in 9. And cost no extra.

What is annoying but not surprising is that at the forum or in the CT, Delieu or one of the other SISU monkeys said the budget for this season would be the same as last year - well King, Gunnarsson, Westwood, Carsley etc have all gone off the wage bill and would represent a substantial total amount, we have signed a couple of keepers, Murphy commanding a decent wage I'm sure. So where has the rest of the promised budget disappeared to? If all we can expect is a couple of reserve strikers from the Prem on loan then once again this board has not exactly been telling us the whole truth. Or now we are out of the prime season ticket selling period the truth can seep out.

My point was that Loan signings can come off good. Not always a bad thing.

As always there is a balance to be had.

Examples like Jack Cork and PVA who are both excellent players, were clearly imo not ready and we should by npo means just be a training ground for the bigger boys.

One or two players can enhance your side, providing they are the right players who have heart as well as ability and can hit the ground running. Other have gone over the edge signing five or six which can't be good for the dressing room or all concerned.

If all we're doing is trialing young lads, then I would prefer that a few of our own bright prospects are given their chance.

Dont think we should rule out any method of getting players in, buy, loan, free agent or youth. Perhaps in the past we have not chosen our loans wisely but doesnt mean they cant work..... am sure QPR were very pleased obtaining Routledge on loan. Finances will dictate where we can shop though

Daniel Pachecho, Cody McDonald and Rob Hulse are very much on the radar loan-wise.

So we lost all 3.. King, Westy and Gunner.. Losing Westy to a premier club is fair enough but losing our best and better players to rival championship clubs leaves a bitter taste in the mouth to be honest..
Promises of an exciting new "franchise" player have gone very quiet. Does a loanee qualify as a "franchise" player then?.. Providing of course we actually get a decent loan signing which i seriously doubt..
We have gone from, Confident of keeping the big three... AT has got ready made replacements lined up... A franchise player to build the team around... to maybe a couple of loan players... hmmm... Just sick of false hope and broken promises..

If Westy, Gunner and King were all offered so called lucrative deals to stay, then surely the combination of those wage packets and wages from Carsley etc, would pay for a goal scorer.. without which a relegation battle looms at best. After all we have been "promised" that we have the same budget as last season.

Didn't we draw 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday in the game he scored. If my memory serves me right, Richard Wood actually scored the equaliser in the last minute!

Loan players are usefull, nobodys doubts that, but we can't rely on them alone. The squad deffinatly needs bolstering with some permanent signings.

I think Wood did score as it was against his old team

I think if Thorn is scouting the next Jordan Henderson to bring here on loan then I am all for that as long as they are actually quite good. I think Danny Ward never got to show what he can do before he got injured but he did score a few for Huddersfield.

Well he got us a point with his goal then. I don't remember the exact scoreline or team but I remember he scored either an equalizer or a winner.

I hope not - we are playing without wingers

Anyway, the PL teams are hardly back yet, so too early to get a loan arranged.
A good loan can be quite beneficial ... look at Birmingham a few seasons back when they had Bentner on loan from Arsenal.

There's a few weeks till the new season starts, so it is not fair to accuse the board for not delivering on their promises .... yet.

Promises? So which of these Prem reserves are going to be the Franchise player that our Twittering board member promised? Or is it going to be Connor Thomas or Jordan Clarke?

it is worrying.

thorn has said we have tried to sign players on loan already but have had to give up due to wages so we will end up withthe cheap option as usual ie kids that aint good enough.

we will end up with sum1 like james mcmaster, remember him? or a zavon hines type as already said on here wasnt nowhere near good enough at the time.

we need sisu out of this club asap, were gradually getting weaker as a squad, as it stands we will be lucky to stay up next season.

As I said - the new season hasn't even started so there's time still.
I don't think we will hear much of any real negotiations until done and dusted. Come back raving in September if you don't feel the board delivered, but until then it's hardly fair to criticise - is it?

Was going to mention this, and their team all round at the time wasnt exactly play off standard. So we just need a 20 goal striker on loan and we are up

Yeah, but it's on perscription, so you probably can't have some.

Or he is looking for the positives on a forum full of negatives. Sisu saved us from administration and as it stands nobody has made an offer with any validity to take over so for now we are stuck with them and we have to accept the position we are in

and i bet that if were still owned by sisu in 2 years time we will be in league 1 so they will have just delayed the inevitable.

and from what i hear there is a valid offer on the table currently which sisu shud accept asap for the good of the football club.

Bendtner, Yakubu, Routeledge type loans on massive wages just aint gonna happen folks! We'll be in the market for a 17-19 year old with 1 or 2 League Cup games under their belt at the most. The modern Jamie McMasters, who will probably be out of the game within 3 years.

Having just read the CT piece, it looks much worse than I feared. Thorn previously spoke about "dangling his bait". Now it's "we can't compete" for those players, we're hoping for a young loanee, Deegan is "like a new signing..." (sort of...) and "It's very difficult at the moment".

My only hope is those last 3 words, at the moment. Is this SISU refusing to spen a dime more than they have to before selling up? Because we appear at present to be nowhere near last seasons budget as had been promised. Now that's fine if it's because they are pumping some money into offering Cranie and Sammy new deals before they leave next season for zilch. Yeah, that'll be what they're doing, of course...silly me, Uncle SISU always knows best

I mentioned Bentner as an example of a good young and upcoming striker from PL on low wages at the time he went to Birmingham for a season long loan. He scored 11 and made 7 assists. Not bad at all.

AT are being quoted we cannot compete with silly wages for has-beens in relation to paper talk about Kevin Phillips. That is not evidence that AT does not have the same money as Aidy had last year. That's only evidence of AT's good sense of reality.

There is absolutely no need to slam either SISU or the board for not living up to their promises ... yet!
