I'd prefer we build a new ground with a 10k capacity for Wasps to play in. Warwick Uni fits in with their demographic and we could take ownership of the remaining 240 or so years lease.

Why would Wasps ever agree to this?

Surely if Wasps were to move it would be out of Coventry and nearer London

Let’s be honest even if we take Boddy at his word and a stadium will be built by 2032 the cost of construction would be going up to £100m

If Sisu can raise these funds for a construction project then the obvious tactic would be to make an offer to Richardson for shares of the leasehold of the Arena. An above offer on valuation would still be significantly less than a build project

Sell the lease and move on elsewhere to a more suitable location or just disband

They won’t sell the lease as no one will buy it and the crowd as a percentage of turnover is never going to be their biggest problem - moving to London wlukd Be expensive.

Our rent to them must be over £1m a year alone - that’s a lot of revenue

The rationale behind a new ground did kind of make sense when they mooted it back in, what, 2013?

If I had any faith they'd do it I'd get behind it but yeah, we got more last time with the cartoon picture of a bedsheet over a pitch, didn't we. Nine years of planning to get to a stage of some fudged words of maybe suggests the timescale to actually build it is closer to 100 years than 10!

The worst thing is, SISU have ruined any future owners' ability to build a new ground, as no bugger'd believe them even if they were deadly serious!

Nobody said they would. But given that they have a poor fan base they are rattling around in the CBA.

I suppose none of it matters as both sets of owners are pretty good at moving their fanbase around. However, i'm against Warwick Uni. A bit nearer to their training ground as well.

Surely Wasps can only hope to make money from renting to us, or staging other events at the CBS. Not sure why they would trade that for a smaller stadium at Warwick Uni (which they still wouldn’t fill, not that it’s ever going to exist anyway).

Here'e hoping they go bust. SISU know a bit about stressing companies out. Wasps must have them nailed down with the contract.

I don't think them going bust would be good news for us.
I'm fairly sure an administrator could tear up our current rental agreement and up it but I could be wrong

When was this said? Or are you extrapolating this from him saying it takes 10 years?? The deal was 10 with a mutual break point after 7

Not that it would necessarily mean anything especially to grendel and others like him but I’d still like the club to apologise for moving the club out of coventry and promise not to do it again

Well he says it’s 10 years before a new ground is built - how we would know as it’s not his project but my maths says our lease is now less than 10

You said the rent is £1m a season. Has that been intimated or confirmed or was it a guess

Maybe just an apology then and grendel has proved it wouldn’t mean anything. I think it’s powerful to admit mistakes and make apologies

Well it’s not a guess is it. That is less than the rent paid at Birmingham. It’s not going to be a small amount is it - market value is around £50k a game

On a serious note they can't promise not to do it again as that makes them a hostage to fortune... or a landlord.

I'm pretty sure the best you'd get is how sorry they were that we had to move.

Well I think you’d be on fantasy island to consider a new ground is a 1% chance so why aren’t the club looking to secure a much longer sub lease at the ground

Ok
Optimistic
They are genuinely looking to build a new stadium at the university site and one isn’t required - chances close to zero

Pessimistic
They are wanting to keep options open and are still, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary hoping to get ownership of the cbs, so a temporary lease is a useful thing. Chances close to zero

Realistic
The club are keeping all options open and a 10 year lease is far from temporary although not a permanent solution. For me if there’s no concrete (pun intended) progress we should be pushing for a longer term lease in a couple of years and certainly shouldn’t be running down the lease beyond 3 years to go. Most likely. The changes to inflation and properly and living costs need to be incorporated in longer term deals and I don’t know how long is possible. Which makes the 250 year lease absolutely bananas on behalf of ccc

Most likely: the 10 year lease is kicking the can down the road cause they haven’t got a fucking clue what they’re doing

That may be the realistic opinion too
