To be fair, with the way we were being crippled by the council, neither would we be! But hey, SISU OUT and all that!

Someone mentioned in a different post that as champions elect our immediate cash worries are not as severe as other clubs which is a good point, with wasps already in financial trouble this must have really kicked the shit out of them.

Its possibly the only situation in which not having a ground works to our advantage. No maintenance costs to pay out, even if you completely mothball somewhere like the Ricoh you're going to have no insignificant costs.

And now we are beholden to a shit rugby club that squats in our ground. Mark Robins pulling off a minor miracle doesn’t change the long term picture.

We can never own the ground unless Wasps go pop and even then we could be outbid

The club’s reputation has been overtaken by a fair number of clubs and we now enter the league as small fry

On the other side we have won a lower league trophy and secured two promotions which breaks a 50+ year hoodoo and we have a model in place that’s been effective. But the damage that has been done still has us as a smaller entity than we used to be.

It's not a 50+ year hoodoo. It's only a 19 year hoodoo! Just saying! Dont make out as though the situation has been much worse than it has been! It's been bad, but not 50+ years bad!

No, but at least we still have a football club to support. Yes, shit situation, but would you prefer the alternative of going up Cov Utd every week?? I wouldnt!

You forget that we got shot of our stake in the ground and then didn’t buy it back when we had the chance.

You forget that we sold our ground for the previous owner to cash in and leave us riddled with debt to the council who had us bent over a barrel!

Yup I’m aware of all that-but I’m still not seeing a convincing case that SISU have advanced the club over their tenure nor am I seeing one that we have had no part in our own troubles.

Who says they had the cash to buy it back?

We all presume they wanted it cheaper out of greed, but how do we know they didnt want ot cheaper so they could afford it? They had just ploughed £65m in to us, maybe they didnt have much spare cash left?!

Imagine somebody selling a house for £200k, you only have £180k, they refuse your offer and your wife holds it against you personally for the remainder of your life!

Where did they spend £65 million buying the club? Have I missed something?

Crippled? How?

Yes the rent was high but didn't we agree to that? Nobody put a gun to the clubs head. Wasnt the rent about 10% of our income?
Sisu fucked up because of their own greed. We're now homeless or at the mercy of a rugby club but you keep on putting stars in place of spelling wasps if it makes you feel better

The options were agree rent or admin/liquidation. McGinnity etc didn’t want to lose any money.

the income wasn’t 10 mil and we had the existing debts - 60 mill to service whilst trying to keep a competitive squad. The rent should never have been so high. Especially with no income - no way should we have been paying £52k a game to play there.

we also asked to review the rent 3 months into being there which was rejected by the council

50 odd years of decline I think someone was intimating? WTF.
34 spent in the premier league as it's known these days. Many only remember the bad days of relegation struggles, but reality is we had plenty of success there. Qualifying for Europe, winning an FA Cup when it actually meant something back then. Winning the Championship as it was known. That leaves 16 years left...of that we have gained two promotions, spent just one season in the third tier, and find ourselves back in the championship against all the odds. I'd say we are doing better than the Mackems, wouldn't you? Teams can fall from grace, and its hard to get back lost ground. Leeds are another example, and then theirs Pompey, and a whole host of premier league status clubs festering in the championship. No, when all considered its been a great ride with a small diversion thanks to previous mismanagement of our club.
We have opportunity to return to the very top again, and owners who have certainly finally added stability who are looking at it from the right perspective, backing the manager and coaching staff. SISU were a disaster, but they have turned it around much to the surprise of many I guess. Would you swap them right now for a banker and a few cronies who put there crazy offer on the fag of a fag packet? And before anyone rants about the stdium issue, it was previous incumbants who sold off Highfield Road which have led to the problems that have plagued us to this day.

50 years is pushing it but 25 years of going downhill means anyone in their mid 30s or younger has known nothing but failure.

Before Robins our record for how long it had been since a Wembley visit or a top 6 finish was miles ahead of any other club.

That isn't what I said at all, read it again. Around 50 years without success in the league broken by the play off win and this year's title.

Success is based on what’s in front of you so to speak so you can’t win the PL unless your in it , but you can be successful where you are L2 promotion a success 2 seasons ago , this year I assume top of the shop so yes success , it is an upward trend and I am sure philo will come and due a trace graph trend for me . We are on the up , is it down to anything in Particular .... yes the fact when you are at the bottom the only way is up, let’s not hope it’s a dead cat bounce !
