i would hope so huckerby

i just noticed many fans going on about form and then saying stuff like if it went for early form we be out playoffs, but then surerly teams like wigan should be saying it if it went for early form we would be top?

its a long season, forms gonna peak and dip, not sure how acting like dip is gonna be permanent helps anyone

and im not saying you are saying that btw just mean some fans in general regarding form analysis

It feels and sounds so wrong when I hear grown men calling an 18 year old "Madders"

At the game last week I was stood near him, most of the people called him James but one bloke kept calling him Madders, but he over said it to try and be chuffed.

When you're making all your bets do you ignore form and only look at the league table as a whole?

i can understand ignoring games with a different manager

but this season w ehve same manager and consistent squad. dont ignore anything

we were great, now average, overall good. nothing to suggest we cant keep that up or better it

No I know mate. The points count, they're in the bag, and we will probably (hopefully!) go on a similar winning spree at some point in the season, and likely a much worse run of form than the last 5 or so games. I agree that when people say silly things like "if it wasnt for the first three games we wouldnt be in playoffs" it does my head in.

from Schmee's graphic it's great to see that even this current "dip" in form (not sure id call it that!) is top half form!

yeah no rivals consistent either

but that also means every single game could be a slip up, need to be strong mentally this season

James will be back soon hopefully. Will we then ignore the draws?

If you project a straight line through the middle of each up and down slope (not sure what that is called mathematically), it looks like we will finish around the middle of the darker green section (in the middle of the play-off spots I suppose). But with 2 or three more wins we could actually raise that to the lower end of the light green section, meaning automatic promotion. But you probably all knew that anyway.

surely we should discount the last 2 games and the first 3 games as without those points we would only be mid table

so 43 points from 30 games

13 wins 4 draws 13 defeats (to hit top 6). Sounds easy when you say it like that

How about we discount all the games so far because without those points, we'd be rock bottom and facing certain relegation!

before the last 2 games, people on this thread were suggesting we discount the 1st 3, as our form after that was average

Don't think so.
If present form continues we reach 89 which Is what you're suggesting.
For me that will be third, 95 needed IMO, so a couple of extra wins required over the remaining 30 games.

Don't think they were.
I asked if he could knock up a report without the first three as I wanted to see the trend without them as they are an anomaly and was interested. That what you mean?

95 is title winning form, 89 should will be pretty close if not second place.

I was thinking over this last night.
The crazy thing Is If you get up through the play offs It's more lucrative with 2-3 sell out games and possibly a Wembley appearance, against £25kprize money for winning the league.
If at the New year were In a similar position youcould be tempted to strengthen on the basis of some income from those games and help guarantee automatic to only receive the £25kprize.

I don't think I could stomach those 3 games at the end of the season... its bad enough being a city fan without fucking it up in the playoffs to contend with as well...

I'll take the £25k and run with automatic promotion thanks! Don't think my heart could endure those three games and Wembley!

I would love the playoffs

Would love to either win as champions or win the playoffs. It has been too long since we won something.

i thought i worked it out to 91 pts lol, either way i think 89 probably be enough for 2nd, 91 is average last 5 years for autos i believe

forget short term cash opportunties, we need to sort this club out long term, we need autos! cannot run risk of playoffs if at all possible
