The graph can be zoomed into and both axis are not set but are zeroed at the start point, meaning the sectors within the graph will change appearances over time. I noticed it a few weeks ago and it is a good spot.

At the moment Mowbray in the interviews is stating that he is after a stacking up of points in the league so the graph has stayed at a fixed starting point.

It is not scientific accurate as it does not have adjustable variance to the data. What it does show excellently is the current trend along the way with an indicative position based on previous mean values.

Would be interesting to have a second line on the graph indicating last season's performance so we can see how much better (or, gulp, worse) we are at various stages.

Not disputing the line is a points count but the coloured bands still represent our league position and the points needed to be in a certain position will vary over the season depending what the other clubs do.

No they don't!

They represent what league position we would end up in (given the average required in previous years) if we maintain our current points per game average.

Where you pulling this from bud? Or are you creating it yourself! Either way very useful

Suppose I owe an explanation. Football isn't my true love for a sport but I have done analytics for another sport and I believe I may be able to transpose what I have learnt from that sport over to CCFC.

Any sport, and life in general, works off a framework of thinking, and whilst these graphs suffer from the problem of induction, as well as many other stuff. I believe they may be a way to ground a basis to start a framework of thinking for people who have much more knowledge in soccer then what I have.

Still don't know about adding the opponents statistics to the graph each week. All this is very much still up in the air at the moment but will be interesting to see how the graph evolves over the season.

Always looking for suggestions to improve it btw.

I leave an example of the statistics I usually try to play with.

next 14 games need 21 points to keep on track for play offs 1.5 points per game
need about 29 points for automatic 2 points per game

head says we are good enough for top 6 but not yet ready for top 2

I would have said its farfetched if someone told me we'd be 4th in the league at this point of the season.

We need to string a few wins in a row together again we are in danger of dropping out of d top six after our last 6 games

Reckon we need to get used to this feeling, as it will probably be the way we feel most of the season

Maybe I'm high after a win but if we can persuade Liverpool and Newcastle to let us keep Kent and in particular Armstrong I'm believing automatics are real possibility.

13 wins 13 draws to go!

Great opportunity next week at home to get 9 puts from 9 in October with 2 tricky games in Rochdale and Swindon

To get 4 points even 3 from those last 2 away games (after we beat Blackpool next week despite their upturn in form) & it's been a superb month!

The quicker we can get those 13 wins the better! Each win after the 13th needed will reduce the draws total by 3!

We have a good opportunity this month to reduce the wins total dramatically
