Currently on 5live with a report on people scamming people out of money. Victims often elderly and suffering from alzeihmers/dementia.
One victim lost 450 grand.
Absolute inhumane scum bags.

I listened to most of this, and obviously agree.

The issue that banks have is that any security measure is only as strong as its weakest link, and unfortunately, that is people. When those people are vulnerable, and sadly are able to be manipulated with apparent ease due to health issues or lack of understanding on modern banking methods, then I'm struggling to think of anything that can be done from the banks' side to help protect them that isn't already done.

Just because they are old doesn't mean they are scumbags.

But yeah, absolute thieving pricks.

What I don't get is how easy it is for them to just go and take so much cash out to hand over.

Saw one about a roofer who took about 300k. When I wanted to get cash out to buy a car I had loads of questions to go through before they would give it to me.

If it's an old person with dementia, even though it's their money they need a bit of protection.
