Think it's needed without Rudoni.

I think it’ll be knee jerk to change anything too much. Form has been fantastic.

Tonight wasn’t much to do with formations but more about a higher number of their players being up for it compared to ours.

Persisting with Haji was the wrong decision too, way off it tonight but atleast he’ll have some more sharpness from that

We’re conceding goals like crazy since going to 4-3-3

We played 5 at the back today. Grimes was holding hands with Thomas and Kitching all game....

Problem with 5 at the back is it renders EMC and Sakamoto as redundant, and with no Rudoni they're our two best attackers at the moment.

The alternative renders Simms redundant. On balance perhaps it's best to be defensively solid?

We seem way too enamoured with playing in a style that is hypothetically great rather than one which suits the players we have available.

Don’t want to see 5 at the back.

I’m not sure why Eccles is our most advanced midfielder, I would rather either Torp or even Allen there instead. He’s not creative enough.

Definitely think it's worth giving a go. Doesn't really suit Saka and EMC though.

Dovin
Thomas Lati/Binks Kitching
MvE Grimes Eccles Dasilva
Torp
Simms Wright?

Does it really matter how many are in defence if your goalkeeper will throw them in from set pieces?

Don’t need to change it. Just need a left back in the game and a fit left sided attacker

You know it’s funny, saw a Fifa recreation having us as a 5-4-2-1, dug deeper and can see this formation used at least on football websites for Preston and Oxford and found the attached video commenting on our 3-4-2-1 shape.

Noted as being this when attacking
Dovin
Thomas-Kitching-Bidwell
Milan - Eccles - Grimes - Rudoni
Saka - EMC
Simms

And then a 4-4-2 when defending. Sadly don’t think we’ve got anyone who can play the Rudoni role.

We've won 9 out of the last 11 games. Don't think we should overreact to one poor result.

playing without Rudoni means Grimes has more to do, and we can’t rely on only him to drop in and also create

Eccles I though had a good game today, and Torp was ok, but neither really did anything stand out, with Rudoni back it will be all good

I understood Wright starting as it was reported that EMC had a knock but Bidwell coming on for DaSilva who had a very good game Saturday was bizarre .
No need for a change of formation just play players in form . That's two substandard performances in a row from the usually reliable Bidwell

Eccles isnt naturally a number 8/10 but he tries his heart out and tries to play on the front foot .

Didn't look his normal self, he's never been that shit before. He has to be taken out of the squad to find his form

There is zero organisation going on between Dovin, Thomas and Kitching when it comes to set pieces/crosses.

Rather than changing the formation I would simply ask the defenders to stop giving up easy goals.

Eccles ?
His game for us up to this point has been as a 6 , someone who breaks up play and gives it simple to others .
For me it's interesting that FL has a lot of faith in him and sees him in that more advanced role

What run ?
We've just won 9 from 11 playing two different systems. Like I've said in other threads at this point of the season just play your players in form . 5 at the back means dropping EMC and Sakamoto which would be madness .
For me just a bit better game management and stopping the stupid fouls around our own box would be a good start .

Dovin needs to cone off his line and clear everyone out to claim set pieces. I'd also be tempted to bring Allen in for Eccles, but if we assume Dasilva coming back in too, that leaves us very small so maybe we do need another CB for a bit more height. It would also mean having to keep Simms playing which looks unthinkable after tonight where he looked like a raffle winner.

But still much better than Wright which is the worry
