Am wondering if we will switch to 5-3-2 particularly away from the CBS. We certainly have the players to play this formation now and we might be more solid.
I think it could be a weapon for us. Either like you said set up for certain games or we switch to it second half if wingers need to be subbed off and lampard unsure of using brau or bta consistently etc
I'm hoping there's more likelihood of using a 442 and being more direct that way. Rudoni could play left or right, Sakamoto the same, and it can easily switch to a 433 with most variations of personnel on the pitch. We tried it a few times in pre-season as well.
Well under Lampard we’ve played the 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 3-4-2-1, 5-3-2 and the 5-4-1 so I see it as quite plausible we will move to a three at the back system at some point.
However I don’t see us starting with three at the back unless Grimes or the wingers get injured.
Good to have flexibility mind and would like us to utilise the 5-3-2 in difficult games away from home or difficult sustained pressure where we have the lead (Oxford for example once they went 2-1).
We have scored the most goals in the division by a mile. We need to work on defending set pieces, but the idea of switching to this formation as a knee-jerk reaction to only drawing to Oxford is unnecessary at this point.
Called it on Monday in the Norwich thread, but as it's a home game I am feeling less confident in my belief. I think Woolfenden will start and will replace Bobby though and we will play 3 at the back regularly in away matches.
Probably be wrong on all counts, this guessing game is too hard.
