Today mcsheffrey fleck Barton baker
If everyone fit
Fleck Thomas Barton baker
Just for record I'd play
4-2-3-1
Just for record I'd play
4-2-3-1
4-3-3 with good wing play and switching the ball across.
Who in the 3 in midfield? With what wingers? Cody on his own?
A few people on this forum are suggesting we play 4-4-2.
I'm calling those people out who criticise the diamond and prefer an out-of-date formation, how would you play the flat 4 in midfield?
Put up, or shut up!

Fleck Thomas Barton baker
McSheffrey and Barton on the wings, with Fleck and Cody up front
Oh I didn't realise the diamond was modern and trendy and that's why we play it. That's ok then. It doesn't matter we never win playing it at least we are up with the times.
You said 4-3-3, but Fleck + Cody up front with 2 winger?
Barton as a winger = disaster!
I editted it sorry, and Barton wouldn't be a bad winger he could hold the ball up.
He isn't a winger - end of!
McSheffrey and Barton on the wings, midfield Killbane, Baker, Elliot with Fleck and Cody up front
You saying?
Barton kilbane, baker, elliott macca
Fleck Cody :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
Glad you are nowhere near our management!!!ointlaugh:
In my opinion yes better than the same crap we play week in week out.
Tbh with you can only play certain formations with the correct players in them positions. As in the 4-4-2 I would play barton-jennings-thomas(when fit)-fleck and then bring baker on in to the game. Then upfront play macsheff and cody which are both good finshers but we would have to play good foootball.

can you explain why 442 is an out of date formation
whilst it's not really a favoured formation of mine, Manchester United play 4-4-2. Well, 4-4-1-1.

in our case we need the DM to control the game in general, but more so passing and tracking back, so we need jennings to get match fitness straight away because although Daniels has done a good job, that's not his preferred role, jennings is older more experienced and can probably pick a pass better than him, get fleck fit again, play diamond kilbane left, barton right (drifting) fleck behind front two and then jennings at the base behind back four pulling the strings, bringing full backs into the game, filling in when they are getting back etc, i believe this would be best midfield in league one easily once they all play together for a few gamesNo top teams play it, England @Euros explains really, they even ditched it despite it being a Hodgson favourite.
Besides, It restricts space going forward, as the flat 4 have to defend deep to defend against a AMC so when we get the ball, taking it forward is more difficult. Also, with 2 flat 4's full-backs can't get forward as easily, a deep lying playmaker e.g. Pirlo can take control as there is little pressure applied.
Also, if you press the deep lying play maker, it leaves a massive gap between D and midfield so opposition players can exploit.
There.
