Does the diamond formation suit the team we have got best? Beating Accrington 4-1* with Fleck and Cody doing well and judging by our past results - lets not go into details  - is it fair to say that the diamond is this teams best formation>
Well Fleck is at his best in a free role, and Baker and Sheff are more "attacking wide men" rather than wingers or midfielders. I don't think Fleck would really suit any role apart from a "free role", and at our level, the rest of the side should be a platform for him to go and do his stuff. Out wide he'd be tracking back, facing his own goal-all the things that have ruined much of this spell at the club for Sheff. We don't have any proper wingers (assuming KK's too slow to play there now), and the theoretical form base in the middle should allow Hussey/Clarke to over-lap well.
But we'll have to wait until the season starts to see if it really suits our drastically altered squad. A narrow 442 with the wide-men tucking in could work as well. It essentially does the same thing-numbers in formations really are irrelevant! It's about shape, movement, flexibility and phase of play.
