As the Pennington loan deal is over now isn't it the case that the club has 3 fit defenders for Tuesdays' match.
Well at any rate there is nothing on newsnow about extending Pennington deal or signing cover for Webster.

Pressley wants Pennington back and I doubt Everton will be desperate to keep him so I'd expect to see him stay til the summer. Even if that isn't the case Finch should be back for Tuesday so stick him at centre back. If not, put Willis and Martin in the centre and give young Kelly-Evans a shot

Indeed he has. But he did a cracking job in the centre yesterday so I'd keep him there

That's how we finished the game yesterday and it looked good but we were chasing the game and pushing Preston back. We therefore it'd work over 90 mins is another matter.

They can only loan a player 93 days. It is only possible to extend his loan a few more weeks, already extended once.

You know what this smacks of, a plan to replace him by another defender at the end of the loan window did not come off & now with 2 injuries the club is in the shit.

Could bring someone else in or just stick Willis at right back. Did very well yesterday

Haven't they said something around the fact his was a youth loan so they can extend further?

Sounds plausible, in that case can you think of any good reason why they wouldn't want him till the end of the season?

Yes I'm pretty sure Pennington can be extended because its a youth loan, Pressley said it was something he was keen to do. I'm expecting it to happen but am a little surprised they didn't do it it earlier, what would happen if another club comes in now and says they also want Pennington on loan? We'd be screwed

That could possibly be due to the Parent club.

I think only in the U21s and pre season matches he's played CB, I don't think he's ever played a first team league match there.

I'd guess Finch would be the cover at CB before Barton

Yeah agreed
Think I'd rather move Willis over and solve the right back spot from elsewhere
Should Finch have to play there I hope he shines
I guess the biggest factor would be his confidence,I'm pretty sure he has the tools to do the job

I am all for Barton or Finch playing at centre back. Both players are a lot more composed on the ball than the likes of Webster.

He may as well play Finch at centre half he only plays about two foot in front of the defence anyway, another option could be to ask Fleck to play a bit more forward than his normal role and play at centre half :sarcasm:
