Some people don't want to be associated with any kind of protest which divides and categorises fans as 'types', so the shit about people who go in to the ground needs to stop, and it needs to stop NOW.

The protest doesn't divide, its actually very inclusive as it encourages those that go in to stand alongside (metaphorically obviously) with those that are outside on the hill.

Anything said about those that go in are personal opinions, of which we are all entitled to.

If a sixfielder really wants to join in with the protests by holding a banner up inside the ground, but then wont because someone on an internet forum said something nasty would suggest to me that the person has issues.

What would that proove and who would be interested in covering it?
The whole issue in all this is that most people have given up the fight.
At least on the hill you can watch the fame.

Are you saying 5000 people outside of our former home on a matchday when we are playing at Sixfields won't generate more interest than 50 or so on a hill?

A lot of people gave up the fight years ago, long before SISU and our catastrophic move to Sixfields. The evidence of that is that if we did go back to the Ricoh then there will still be lots who won't attend... citing the next in a long chain of excuses that merely cover up the fact they don't care enough anymore.

We are expecting the owners and other parties to forget the past and sort out a deal to return. Will the fans 'as a whole' take the same stance?

It doesn't, and it would be nice to keep it that way.

However... I'm not going to stand shoulder to shoulder with people who seek to run down other fans. It's not any of our fault we've moved. It's also a pretty idiotic way to persuade people to take part, by insulting them repeatedly and grouping them together. That's nothing to do with issues, that's common sense that you don't unite and persuade by categorising and Othering.

It. Needs. To. Stop.

Else I'll have my own protest against short-sighted loons.

Football fans will always run down other fans.

Remember the disgraceful scenes in the JPT semi when CCFC fans abused CCFC fans for deciding to leave? Not to mention some of the childish comments on here about "glory supporters".

Abuse between different sections of supporters has always existed, yet no one seemed to care. For some reason it has recently become a sensitive subject.

No, because I was boycotting the club because of SISU's actions

It becomes sensitive because at a time when unity of, well, at least purpose is needed, some seem more determined to state themselves better fans than others. That's always been a ridiculous argument, we need every fan we can get at the best of times.

This ain't the best of times, so we really need every fan we can get...

Plus walking out of Crewe was never considered a morally reprehensible thing to do...

I always knew there would be some fans that would attend Sixfields and there would always be some that won't protest.

That's freedom of choice for you and I am a big fan of that. Running down of fans occurs on both sides of this sorry saga, I wouldn't apportion blame to either side for that.

I don't blame fans who have become apathetic after years and years of under achievement either. Football is part of the entertainment business after all, it is not an obligation.

What I do find strange though is people who have a passion for Coventry City, who claim to hate SISU, who say they hate we are in Northampton and we should be playing in Coventry yet contrive to oppose every protest about the situation going.

If 2000 Coventry fans actually support SISU and there stance, I really don't care. But at least have the balls to come out and show your allegiance. Otherwise support the protest whether it is perfect or not.

Why? Because no one, including the Sixfields ultra faithful have come up with a better plan.

It's often overlooked that a fair few who go to Sixfields have either been on one or other of the marches through the city, or at the very least approved of the idea.

Even Andreas has said they'll hold up a banner.

This seems a really good idea and those attending Sixfields should absolutely get behind it.

There's also the likes of this chap/chapette.

Well we can only really do what we can do as individuals and if that becomes a successful and consciousness raising collective demonstration then that might just mean a difference might be made and we influence a return to the Ricoh. I for one will be supporting "Fix Football" and "Let Down" demos - I have saved my placard from Bradford and will be holding it up at 35 minutes. If enough of us do perhaps this time it'll make a difference.

But this tends to be overlooked in the categorising.

And in the categorising, it risks people changing their mind. It's the same as if you berate your wife for having an affair if she ain't. In the end she'll say fuck it and just do what you're accusing her of anyway. As what's the point of even bothering if you still get berated?

"What is the point of bothering if you still get berated" and that is the biggest danger to our cause and protest. We only have one voice..."as fans"...it is a shame we can't all find a little more centre ground to agree upon when we all seem to be saying I love Coventry City and believe it represents Coventry an should be playing in Coventry.

From a media perspective, people not attending has limited value, particularly after a whole season it is stale news. A significant number visibly and vocally protesting will have far greater impact.[/QUOTE]

Cannot disagree more - TOTAL 100% boycott of all that Sixfields stands for = massive media message and publicity with ZERO attendance a massive wake up call for SISU

In my opinion a lot of people attending Sixfields have nothing else major going on in their life.
The sense of belonging is too great to break so they need to attend. Not knocking it but sometimes people need to look at the bigger picture.
Sisu seem to be happy that some people are their attending and it seems to also make it okay for the FL.

i agree, but will be paid at the last minute.

If you are in ACL's shoes, this would yet another example of SISU not exactly building bridges.

You do know that you don't have to be sitting in front of your computer by yourself in your bedroom ?
These days they have Apps that mean you can do things on the hoof.

Currently on the top of Snowdon posting whilst having a flask of coffee.

Yes it fucking does. Total transparency or nothing at all.

The Trust is not there to make two or three people feel special and give speeches on a bus. It's there to organise the fans into a coherent and effective voice. You can't do that if you're refusing to tell the members what you're up to.

I've long railed in private about this with board members, frankly had enough.

For someone who talks about "standing shoulder to shoulder" I'm surprised you don't get this.

Had enough of GCBTTR when they did it. Had enough of KCIC when they did it. Had enough of the Trust now.

Anyone out there actually want to represent the fans instead of playing "I want to be the guy who can say I sorted it"?

No news could be good news. SISU have hopefully paid what the FL stated and agreed to drop any more pointless court actions and negotiations are in place over the rent and the tea money with a return date to be announced in a joint statement.

Lets hope they are NOT looking for ways out of paying as that will be the stumble into the abyss.

I was passing through the area at the time.
Also I think we will be back at the Ricoh so I didn't want to miss it.

I think my threatened non attendance at any game swung it for Sisu.
You check the timeline.

So the 3 days went much as expected:
13th: The protest got good coverage on Sky & BBC, an ITV camera was also present and a Dutch documentary crew. Cardiff fans supported it brilliantly, 150 on the Hill making lots of noise and having fun, patchy support amongst home fans in Sixfields. And there was a football match in which we were absolutely shit, certainly first half.
14th The £471k was paid we are told, left to the final day though.
15th Just as the deadline was about to expire, with fans hopes now high that the bullet had been dodged, Sisu lodge the application for permission to Appeal. To leave it to the final hour of the last day possible is just typical of the lack of consideration shown to supporters and looks vindictive. Simon Gilbert indicated on a tweet that, while not confirmed, the Appeal Process won't prevent talks from occurring. I hope he is correct but it seems to me implausible that ACL would agree any deal for the club to return to the Ricoh.

So a week that could have ended up with a serious chance of progress got wrecked at the final moment. I really am not surprised, it's what I predicted, but I am intensely disappointed. When the request to Appeal is rejected as I am confident it will be, there might at last be some positive move forward. Until then, it seems we are back in limbo again.

Just as a footnote we shouldn't forget 12th brilliant support from AFC Wimbledon fans with the 'Fix Football' signs.

If Mr Justice Hickinbottom rejects the application, Sisu will need to apply directly to the Court of Appeal within 21 days.

Once the application is received by the Court of Appeal it can be considered without the need for a physical hearing.

If the Court of Appeal dismisses the application for an appeal without a hearing, Sisu could apply to argue their case for an appeal in person.

Should Sisu be granted an appeal at the end of the process, three senior judges at the Court of Appeal would consider the case and decide whether to take any action.

If the court decides the appeal is invalid, then Sisu will be forced to accept the judgment.

This whole process is likely to take several months.

But it may yet be referred to the European Court of Justice, which I think is SISUs intention.
http://www.richardbuxton.co.uk/v3.0/node/51
European law is to the effect that where the answer to a point is not clear in the European jurisprudence, a domestic court may refer it to the CJEU for a "preliminary ruling".

that website says if they fail in the next 2 steps it's over and they can't go further. The 2 steps are asking if they can make the case in the court of appeal and if they fail then asking in an oral hearing if they can make the case in the court of appeal. If both of those fail then it's over and they can't go further (at least according to that site)

In cases where permission for judicial review is refused by the High Court, the Appellant's Notice must be lodged within one week (7 days).
Refused permission
A decision is made on paper by a Lord/Lady Justice of Appeal. If the decision is to refuse permission, one can renew the application to an oral hearing within 7 days of the order refusing permission). That will usually be before one, but sometimes two, Lord/Lady Justices. The other party or parties are not normally invited, but in practice they will often turn up to the hearing. They may still not be allowed to make representations or claim costs - the point is that the prospective appellant must show that the proposed appeal stands a realistic prospect of success.
If permission to appeal is refused at that stage, that is the end of the matter. One cannot take it further to the Supreme Court because you will have been refused twice - in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

if either of those say yes though then we are in for the long haul as we get the main court of appeal case and if that fails 2 attempts to request permission to go to the supreme court.

Hopefully if its 2 no's it will only take a month or 2, if there is a yes though its going to be getting on for a year from now at a guess.
