Your addition is really coming on. Need to practice ranges though.

7-9 yeah.

We have no backup at: LW/RW/RB and arguably AM and need better at CM IMO.

If we keep Wright we’re OK up front, need a LB a keeper a CB and maybe a CM for the first team tho.

Could make a case for a striker and a backup CB too TBH.

That's without replacements for those that may leave

3 or 4 of quality plus 4 or 5 backup is what’s needed. If we can fund that without major outgoings then fine. Two seasons running we’ve run out of squad before the end of the season. The squad is not fine.

We didn't run out of squad last season. Right flank is thin but otherwise I don't think we had it any worse than you'd expect over a typical 46 game season. We're not gonna have the silly depth Sheff Utd had on our budget.

To be fair, if we assume we play the 4-2-3-1, our squad is pretty much made up without outgoings.

Obvious need a better keeper, a RB cover and a winger who can play on either foot to cover both wings but outside of that I think we’ll need outgoings before signing.

Take CB without selling either Binks or Lati doubt we’d want five CBs on our books. Even striker where people want us to upgrade, we’ve got four strikers in the team, would need to at least sell one if not more to get someone in.

We've been lucky to some degree, especially with MvE. It's criminal to have had no cover for him for 2 seasons. I never want to see Lati at RB/RWB again.

Same goes for Sakamoto, we can't really risk that again if we are serious.

The rest is more down to upgrading what we have but depth over a season would be a huge bonus. There were times last year where we couldn't take players out when they were clearly out of form.

So what, a few quality players and cover for sakamoto and Milan what’s that 4/5 players? This whole needing a whole new rebuild is embarrassing, glad it’s professionals in charge and not @shmmeee making all the decisions

I got 6. Assuming the following leave: Collins , Lati (thinking he’s more realistic), Bidwell, Simms/BTA

GK (loan or perm)
Back up RB
CB
LB
RW/LW
ST

We kind of did. There wasn’t really much to change the game v Sunderland and other games towards the end of the season.

We’re relying on Rudoni to play AM with no alternative.

Overall, the squad is in a good place but it needs beefing up with 3-4 quality players and current starters pushed down the pecking order.

To be fair, didn’t Torp play that role decently well. Imagine he’d be the back up for him

In reality I would like

Collins (Permanently)
Lati or Binks (Permanently)
Bidwell (Permanently)
Allen (Permanently)
Bassette (Loan)
Bta or Simms (Permenantly)

Which would mean we get
GK
RB Cover
CB Cover
LB
CM
RW
ST

I think that would be fairly realistic if its a mix of loans and permenants.

if we are going to improve the quality of 3rd/4th choices then the 5th and 6th choices MUST be from the academy.

The likes of Andrews, Dausch, Moore must be utilised.

I think we’ll need:
• GK on loan for the season (Dovin wont be sharp till the end and there will be no point integrating him as first choice again until next season.
• RB backup to Milan.
• CB if one of Binks or Lati goes.
• LB sell Bidwell, looks as though Brau is coming in.
• CM someone versatile can play as a 10 or B2B
• RW/LW someone who can play both sides
• ST if we move on one of the ones we have

So probably 5-7 new signings, we have a good squad already its about tuning it now we dont need an overhaul. Most of the new signings will probably be backups which look to come in to replace what we sell in the window after provided we dont go up as you have to prepare for all circumstances.

If you look at lots of clubs in and around the playoffs, they have a fair few academy players who fill squad roles.

I would keep the likes of Andrews, Moore and Dausch.

Obikwu to a L1 club on loan, and Sandiford out to League 2

This is true. Nevertheless, it seems obvious to me that we have a different problem to providing cover for MvE now. We almost certainly need to replace him.

I’d keep Obikwu over Dausch ( or send both on loan and keep Bassette) but 100% agree we need to pad the squad with academy talent as our 5/6 choices. Especially with our budget

In an ideal world cover for both but if only 1 possible then MVE cover is the bigger of the two for me....

If Tats got injured/suspended you could potentially put MVE right wing (if there was cover for RB) a bit like Wolves away but with a 4 rather than 3 at the back..... or for a joker in the pack Rudoni could play there with licence to cut in field, a bit like Sheff Utd did with Hamer to good effect most of last season.

If MVE gets suspended/injured like you say it is Latti or I'm sure Eccles has played there a couple of times, even Tats had a couple of games there I think. But none of those options seem particularly good.

It saves a lot of money and if they perform you can either fast track them or sell them for a good amount of pure profit

most clubs have deeper squads thanks to padding it further with youth players that they dont have to register in the 25 meaning they can have even further depth. Wonder if going up to a cat 1 academy would benefit

I think changing the structure of the academy would be better.

Have it up to U18's, if they sign professional at 18 farm them out on loan for 2 years (unless they are good enough for the first team) if they arent ready by 20 then they never likely will, and release them.

We dont need as many U21's games as we have

I think we will see Torp , fitness allowing , playing as an 8/10 and if Eccles stays then I think Lampard sees him as a more progressive midfielder than a holding player .

I think Torp and Wright could be a very interesting partnership next season, Wright looked a different player when Torp was fit

The goalkeeper and defence are where we should be focusing the bulk of our spending. Our season would have been much much simpler without giving away so many poor goals so often.

If MVE isn’t leaving he needs an understudy, a new LB is needed and we need better at CB also.

We had to change our formation because we ran out of wingers. It actually worked out but clearly wasn’t what the manager wanted. And we often had games we couldn’t change things from the bench with the likes of Bassette and BTA on the bench. If we want to make a sustained push and be fresh for the play offs then we need a bigger squad. We’ve lost Paterson, according to saddle will lose backups at CB CM and STx2 so just replacing those is 4-5 players.

No matter who you are developing the academy lads into 1st team pro's is essential to any successful team. You mix them with quality experience and the development is easier to asses and design a pathway to being a 1st team regular.

Andrews, Obikwu are further down the line than Moore and Bell but all have massive preseasons coming up. I hope all 4 bridge the gap and add to the squad next season.

Galatasaray made an official €7 million offer to his club Coventry City for Milan van Ewijk
Coventry City want 15 million euros for the player.
Fulham are in contact for the player.
Dutch clubs are also following the player.

This comes from Twitter, so no idea if it's a good source or not.

Can't remember if he's been mentioned before but Dor Turgeman, who is linked with Rangers would be an interesting one. Not too sure it's realistic, probably out of our reach. Skillful striker, 21 years old, 6'1" and quick with a decent eye for goal but in a poor league. Probably gonna go for over £4m so unlikely we'd get close unless moving a striker on and not picked up by someone in Europe's top leagues but his YouTube vid is a decent watch.
