I think his injuries have skewed some views, and I'm not sure Wrexham is the right move for either him or us at this point in time.

Whilst it is true that he thinks he is a top Premier League player, like many on here do, that just doesn't match reality, and it never has. Confirmed by the fact he hasn't really had any interest from any of those clubs over the last few years. He was still stuck here every single transfer window whilst many deluded themselves into thinking he was off to Manchester United, or Crystal Palace.

Lampard has looked at this, and has actually gone up in my estimations because of it. He sees what few have done, and can see better players in the squad. It is not coincidence that we have started the season so strongly, as every patch of good form we've had in the last 4 seasons has been when he's injured. Now the player that was seen as a cautious safety net, is one that is now being realised we can live without. That decision to pick Torp on the opening day was not only brave, but 100% the correct decision, and I actually think it was a watershed moment for many of our fans too.

Wrexham is the perfect move. Whilst it is really a step down, it's a club in the limelight so he can feel special enough, and at least try to be of some importance there, rather than sitting on the bench for us. What other choice does he have? They're also the only one club stupid enough to pay well over the odds. It was the only way he was going to leave. The Wrexham tax is about 200%, and Doug will be laughing all the way to the bank.
