Older and more expensive, just to sit on the bench like Binks did, with little resale value in 3 or 4 years time ???In my opinion no. Consider how much better and more experience he has to Binks at supposedly £2.5m
Mental fee for Leicester's 4th best wingerSee Ipswich have just signed McAteer from Leicester for 12m.
My point is that they are the only ones who have really splurged and it's because they're willing to pay over the odds for standard Championship players.Brum and Wrexham have to as they are newly promoted teams that seriously needed to strengthen.
What makes you think he'd sit on the bench? You are making 26 sound ancient! He's 1 year older than Kitching and 2 years older than Thomas.Older and more expensive, just to sit on the bench like Binks did, with little resale value in 3 or 4 years time ???
Surely there's got to be a decent league 1 or foreign CH that's young enough and good enough to develop? And won't cost us millions.
That was funny to be fair, I know it was unrelated to the thread but it was class, too many poo emojis today so Douglas needs to get the Woolfenden /Godo deals done and also Boving because he will be a good signing, be a good end to the window. The Inbetweeners banter was better than todays chat, i have to be honest.
If we spend upwards of £5m on Woolfenden is that too much?
That hypothetical about Lati makes no sense.Personally I’d feel £5m is too much.
Would be willing to spend £3.5m
Just because you’ve played in the league doesn’t mean you tack on considerable amount more. Ipswich went up and straight back down. Players under contract will likely still be under contract 2 seasons later.
If we got promoted and went back down, doesn’t mean Lati is a £4m player cause he came off the bench a few times or played when others were injured or whatever.

Woolfenden played 40 times for a team that won this league and about 15 times last year in the PL
Gilchrist was that bad for Sheffield United he lost his place to a midfielder
That hypothetical about Lati makes no sense.
26 isnt ancient, but 29/30 which is what he would be at the end of his contract would reduce his value. What makes you think he'd sit on the bench? You are making 26 sound ancient! He's 1 year older than Kitching and 2 years older than Thomas.
I've looked into Boving a fair bit because i'm a sad act and he'd be a class act here. Not some sort of cheap punt like some think though, the guy wouldn't be far off our record transfer if we decided to pursue it. I know Transfer Markt is a bit of a crap shoot at times but that has him as the joint 5th highest market value in his domestic league at 8 million Euros, only behind a handful RB Salzburg players. That was funny to be fair, I know it was unrelated to the thread but it was class, too many poo emojis today so Douglas needs to get the Woolfenden /Godo deals done and also Boving because he will be a good signing, be a good end to the window.
Haven’t done much looking into Boving.I've looked into Boving a fair bit because i'm a sad act and he'd be a class act here. Woolfenden played pretty much every game for them when they went up, not a handful? Also your situation is entirely hypothetical as Lati hasn't done that so its completely meaningless.Yes it does make sense. He is part of our team, let’s say we go up and he plays a few games here and there in the prem cause you can’t just change your whole team in one summer, then you come back down… doesn’t mean Lati’s value exponentially increases cause he’s played a few games in the Prem.

But we are not going for it are we? We are giving it our best shot within strict commercial constraints. Wrexham are going for it. We are bidding to win at a lottery where only four tickets have been soldSigning Woolfenden and the Fulham winger for me wouldn’t be a good window. It would be below my expectations of a team ‘going for it’

Comfortable on the ball, brings others into play, busy, happy to run with the ball. If you played him CF he'd probably score less than Haji but i bet he'd get more from others around him and harass the defenders more. Can also play Rudis role or on the left. Think he'd be a good option here but i'm not fully sure i believe the links, think he could get a move to a top 5 league if his agent puts the work in.Haven’t done much looking into Boving.
Where do you think he’d play and do you think he’d suit us?
If Woolfenden is trying to get away because he will be on the bench at Ipswich, will we be that attractive when he is likely, at the start at least, sitting on our bench...The Venn diagram of 'good players' and 'prepared to be squad' doesn't have much overlapDespite getting 2 clueless poo poo's i actually agree with you.
Both Woolfenden and Godo are bench players, being brought in to add cover rather than to improve our first 11.
They may be far better than Binks or Raphael, but the squad improvement would be incremental rather than substantial.
And the cost disproportionate.
Tbf he looks very good mate, very technical and can play across the front, it maybe a decent outlay but he would add alot of quality going forward and would fetch a good fee in the future, I'm not saying throw cash around but if it's an investment worthwhile then I think we should go for it.I've looked into Boving a fair bit because i'm a sad act and he'd be a class act here. The definition of panic mode is what Wrexham have just done to get Doyle. That’s good to hear, I think the panic mode is more around panicking to bring someone in for inflated fees than we would generally be prepared to pay.
I hope Perry turns out to be a good player in time for us, if we sign someone then perhaps he gets a league one loan maybe?

I like the look of Godo as someone we can develop here too. The kind of player that would end up at Peterborough then a Championship team would pay 10 times the amount for the following season. Cut out the middle man i say. Looks like a Lampard style winger.Tbf he looks very good mate, very technical and can play across the front, it maybe a decent outlay but he would add alot of quality going forward and would fetch a good fee in the future, I'm not saying throw cash around but if it's an investment worthwhile then I think we should go for it.
I go back to Rudi, 5 million or whatever it was on a player that, albeit Huddersfield best player at the time, got relegated was seen as a 'pulled their pants down' fee but now look at him, improved massively and would fetch much more then what we brought him for, a decent outlay for Boving/Woolfenden and not a massive amount for Godo (again TM isn't gospel but it says he's valued at 600k) combined would be worth it in the grand scheme of things if we get promoted.
I still can't believe at that deal, someone said on X I think that Man City done Burnley over with Trafford deal and now Wrexham, must be laughing at what they gotThe definition of panic mode is what Wrexham have just done to get Doyle.
That's no panic, that's a top quality signing. The definition of panic mode is what Wrexham have just done to get Doyle.
He'd be competition for EMC, Woolfenden comes in to add competion and I've read Ipswich fans saying he's very good in a back 3 aswell, Boving can also play RW/ a no10 or a striker so in them 3 players we have strength, Coverage and flexibilityI like the look of Godo as someone we can develop here too. It's an incredibly expensive loan with no upside. He either doesn't fulfil his potential and loses some of his value or he goes up a level and City take up the right to buy him back and sell for a profit. It's stupid beyond belief. That's no panic, that's a top quality signing.
They've conceded 5 goals in 2 league games so far, so bringing in a top CH makes perfect sense.
It might be too much to ask, well the Boving bit anyway, but i'd be well chuffed with that. He'd be competition for EMC, Woolfenden comes in to add competion and I've read Ipswich fans saying he's very good in a back 3 aswell, Boving can also play RW/ a no10 or a striker so in them 3 players we have strength, Coverage and flexibility
Yeah me too mate, probably too much to ask for but if we got them over the line we'd be a serious force, most people have us top 6 with the squad we have anyway , add those 3 into the mix and were a serious force .It might be too much to ask, well the Boving bit anyway, but i'd be well chuffed with that.
They seem to want to upgrade on him. I’d be interested to see what our plan is for the 3 centre backs. Stats wise he’s comparable to Thomas.Has anyone considered rather than flapping their arms about overpaying, that we might actually get a good deal on Woolfenden because he's not in the Ipswich 11 right now? We have no idea what the bid is.
"Fight for your place, no one is guaranteed a spot, crack on." i suppose. They seem to want to upgrade on him. I’d be interested to see what our plan is for the 3 centre backs. Stats wise he’s comparable to Thomas.
I think there just looking for someone to stop them leaking goals, they gave away 2 injury time goals against Southampton, that cost them 3 points, and let in 3 against WBA last week. It's an incredibly expensive loan with no upside. He either doesn't fulfil his potential and loses some of his value or he goes up a level and City take up the right to buy him back and sell for a profit. It's stupid beyond belief.
Partly jealous Wrexham can have the mentality of don’t worry when it comes to spending five million.I think there just looking for someone to stop them leaking goals, they gave away 2 injury time goals against Southampton, that cost them 3 points, and let in 3 against WBA last week.
Their priority is to sure up their defence.
And Doyle will help that.
I don't think they will care too much what happens with him further down the line.
Championship survival is all that matters this season.
Norwich conceded 68 goals last year with him in their defenceThat's no panic, that's a top quality signing.
They've conceded 5 goals in 2 league games so far, so bringing in a top CH makes perfect sense.
