No chance. Think we are limited to 1 at best.

We probably low-balled Hull for Hughes. Much like Southampton low-balled us for Rudoni, Wolfsburg low-balled us for MVE and Sheff Utd low-balled us for Thomas

You’re missing my point.

Doug and Dean sit down last season and decide were going to sell Milan. Well first we should see if anyone is out there who might pay £10m for a RB outside the PL and if so what other options are on the market. Basically is this a thing that’s actually going to happen or not? We aren’t taking him to CEX we need an interested buyer and that kind of deal takes months to finalise. If there were no serious buyers sniffing at the start of the summer it’s time for plan B.

But again if we were hanging everything of a big sale why the bids for players? We’ve clearly got money but feel the squad is too big maybe, so why extend Eccles Allen Bidwell and Wilson who are all nowhere near the first team?

It’s shit management decision after shit management decision I’m sorry. An no I don’t accept Lampard just doesn’t want to sign anyone.

Eccles is not even available for selection yet, and haven't the other 3 players already played in the first team.It would help your arguments greatly if you got basic facts right.
Of course it's always so easy to make criticisms, when you don't know, like everybody else what has actually transpired over the close season. What conversations have taken place, what players have only recently became available, what clubs are valuing players, what salaries players are demanding.
It's always so easy to write huge cheques, that you don't have any responsibility to honour.

Wilson, Bidwell and Allen haven’t they’ve played with the kids in essentially a reserve match. And Eccles isn’t getting in ahead of Sheaf and Torp lol.

We need better than them. In Bidwells case we don’t need him at all really. Squad management isn’t just freezing the squad is aspic, you’ve got to prune players that fall out of favour due to age or ability to allow space for new signings with more quality or potential.

No I'd just offer something a lot more realistic.

You probably offer £1 for a pair of used knickers on facebook marketplace.

oh and its I before E except after C.

It's just absolute rubbish isn't it, Eccles nowhere near the first team? Plus all those 4 will be on relative peanuts wage wise.

If we spend upwards of £5m on Woolfenden is that too much?

In my opinion no. Consider how much better and more experience he has to Binks at supposedly £2.5m

For someone with such limited debating ability you seem to post a lot on a public forum. Childish comments just show you up for what you are. Still at least the schools go back soon.

Well considering they were last season yes its relevant. Plus you ignored the 40+ games he played in a promotion winning team.

Despite getting 2 clueless poo poo's i actually agree with you.

Both Woolfenden and Godo are bench players, being brought in to add cover rather than to improve our first 11.

They may be far better than Binks or Raphael, but the squad improvement would be incremental rather than substantial.
And the cost disproportionate.

He's 26 so realistically as a CB at this level we can get 5/7 years out of him. If we go up a level the amount we've paid for him is irrelevant.

He's got promotions under his belt as well which, correct me if I'm wrong, we don't have a lot of in this squad anymore...

You’ve got to assume we need the wage bill down or we’d have spent the money we’ve been bidding. It’s got to be squad places or wages as the bottleneck. Which is why you’ve got to be harsher about the dead wood. Eccles is fine as a squad player, but if it’s him or a new first team player then I’d get rid of him. But he’s probably at the back of the queue behind the others.

eh?

Surely if we're bidding it we're ready to sign players....?

Or you think we're waiting for a bid to be accepted, then we'll leave them hanging while we sort exits?

Why do we think we have seen limited exits, even the likes of Obikwu on loan?

Are we asking for too much for these players that we want out?

Yeah but we’re not getting anyone so again are the targets too much? Do we not have enough to offer? Have we no backups? Because it seems we’ve had money from day one and not managed to get any first team outfield signings over the line or any first team permanent signings.

Frank's always said he likes a big squad to work with in training, I'd put it down to that. Would expect Obikwu to take over Norms minutes as well

I mean the main bids have been for Rushworth and Hughes (and now Woolfenden). We signed Rushworth, Hull are quoting this silly £20m figure for Hughes, which they'll never get, and Woolfenden looks like it could still be on.

We've signed KKH and Brau, outfield first team perm signings?

You're talking some rubbish today.

I just don’t want us to spunk money in panic mode on Woolfenden if he isn’t ’the one’ sort of thing.
This Hughes player sounded really promising and had a potential strong on sale value.
Don’t know how much we’ve bid for Woolfenden but if it’s above £4m I’d rather us just look for a loan to cover for the short term until Jan seeming as we are now late into the summer and teams are likely not wanting to sell at this late.
A loan would be more ideal in my eyes. Didn’t Burnley have a huge stock of centre backs or have they cleared a few of them out now?
I swear I read Alfie Gilchrist could go for £1m, could offer cover for both CB and RB.
Would rather us pay £1m for Gilchrist or ideally get him on loan if it’s only going to be cover anyways if we aren’t selling Thomas than spend over and above £4m on Woolfenden

Woolfenden played 40 times for a team that won this league and about 15 times last year in the PL

Gilchrist was that bad for Sheffield United he lost his place to a midfielder

Look across the division. Birmingham and Wrexham are busy paying stupid money to expand their squads but even the parachute clubs haven't particularly splashed the cash.

See Ipswich have just signed McAteer from Leicester for 12m.

That is the difference we just cannot compete with the relegation payments these teams get.

The gap is just getting bigger and unless we get a billion pound owner we are going to struggle to go up automatically. Our only hope is to sneak up through the play offs...

I would say if we could have 50m to spend then we would be up there but obviously not going to happen.

Premier League football is nuts anyway £2.4 Billion spent this transfer window so far !!!!!!

No they played in a first team game which you claimed they hadn't. And they have been on the bench for the league games. Eccles played in plenty of games last year including the play off game at Sunderland.
Yes you should always look to improve your squad, but it has to be done in relation to the club's finances. Sometimes no deal is better than a bad deal. We are already spending millions more than we earn, yet fans expect owners to run the club in a way they wouldn't ever run their own personal finances.
As for selling players, oh if it was that easy, how long have Man Utd being trying to offload even International players.

Guys, the window is like a horse race - we are preparing for the final dash. We had shown interest in a number of CB and now their clubs know we are there. Take Hughes - Hull know we are interested, they are holding up and so there are two scenerios, 1) they respond to our interest and so next week leading up to the window's closure they express an interest to sell and so a fee is agreed, or 2) nothing happens and everyone moves on.
It will be next week when movers and shakers are brought to the fore. There is still a chance Milan may go. I don't think Rudoni will go because he has express a desire to stay. Thomas looks like he will stay as we have priced him out of a move with Sheff Utd who are looking for a cheaper option. Sheff Utd's business model is rather than spend £5 million and give the cash to the other team, they prefer to find free agents and give them a massive pay incentive, like with O'Hare.
