Coventry have seen a bid for Ipswich defender Luke Woolfenden rejected, with the Tractor Boys keen to keep the 26-year-old at Portman Road. (Sky Sports, external)

Could see us getting him in January if he isn’t getting games for Ipswich

Don’t think we’ll be happy to go to January without a CB.

Interestingly they have been linked with a few CBs already.

looks like we’re planning for it already tried bidwell there and Lampard seemed to think he did ok, lati to come back as well, just don’t see us getting someone with a week to go, I’d rather keep the money than panic by someone, we’re only after back up to kitching and Thomas, if they only miss a couple of games each we’ll get by, big gamble though

There’s not a chance we won’t sign a Centre back

Bidwell is nowhere near good enough to be a backup CB for us

I know it's getting late but I just can't see us not getting in a CH, I think we will get Woolfenden I don't think Ipswich will demand what Hull see demanding plus they are pretty stocked in the defence, they are linked with Asante too, also from that interview it sounds like Mckenna wants to keep him but Woolfenden wants to leave for first team football.

They have Greaves/O'Shea as first choice, also have Kipre and linked with another CB, seems to me he won't get much play time

We all know that, but Lampard tried him there for a reason, if it’s to fill in for the odd game then we’ll get by, just banking on kitching and Thomas not missing many

Don’t think it’ll be the transfer fee, prob about 5 million, always down to wages with us

Woolfenden and Godo would round the squad off nicely leaving some money behind for January. If Milan goes we’ll need another RB, Asante maybe.

Tbh I think they will probably offer him a good wage, the club like him and know he's a quality CH at this level coupled with needing that postion filled then they should in theory offer him an attractive wage, also the club will save alot of money that would of been put towards buying Charlie Hughes.

You never know mate we could get Woolfenden this window and then go buy Hughes in Jan ( wishful thinking that one lol)

May not have a choice, but lati will be ahead of bidwell, it’s mad if we don’t get something done by next week,

Frustrating, we’re probably 2 signings of being very strong, at the min we’re 1 injury away from a nightmare

I know it's frustrating mate, I'm like you just waiting for a couple players to drop but we just have to be patient and hope the club gets them over the line.

We are a few short of being very strong and after all the years of shite it's nice our club is in the position we are in, just hope we get a Woolfenden Friday signing if we do I'll run naked down the street I'll be arrested but if I tell the police I did it because we've finally sorted the CH position then they will probably let me go lol

Just read thst McKenna said today that they want to keep Woolfenden but that these situations aren’t always straight forward!

Can’t be a team in any league that starts a season with only 2 recognised fit centre halves, it’s going to the last day

I remember reading on the Ipswich forum a while back that Woolfenden wanted to leave, it seems like that has resurfaced again, I hope we have gone back in and make a breakthrough because this lad is a top defender in this league

Wrexham have signed Doyle for 7.5 million, City retain a buy back option and a 25% sell on sounds like City have had Wrexhams pants down

They won’t sell him, they are under a transfer embargo so they can’t even replace him if they did sell.

There is exactly why we would have said no. (If that’s deals accurate)

Comments like this are one of the reasons why everything you see on TV nowadays is absolutely shite. Everyone has something to be offended about.

Virtue signalling nonsense.

Yeah it was reported by Ben Jacobs on X, Don't get me wrong I wanted Doyle and like him but not on them terms, absolute madness! If I remember correctly didn't Villa want a 50% sell on for Barry when he was set for Hull? That is nuts too

What’s wrong with the deal

2 options … buy low with a high sell on %

or

Buy high with a lower sell on %

seems fair to me ….

The buy back option. They can buy him whenever they want to and will get a low fee because of the sell on. Burnley are worse off having had Trafford on a similar deal.
