It was contingent on Rooney being manager.

Fine.
We have a clear upgrade at GK
High quality competition for MVE (who stays)
And the emergence of Rapha and Kai Andrews who both look excellent from what I've seen.
Bidwell as the backup LCB. Not ideal, but he's an experienced player and has never looked out of place there.

There's clearly money left, but King won't be ripped off (either selling or buying)

We turned down bids for Sheaf last summer (not meeting our price)
We rejected Blackburn's move for BTA in Jan
And if rumours are to be believed we've pushed back on offers for MVE this summer
If King wants £20mil for Rudoni + add ons. He won't take less

Bidwell as backup LCB isnt great, and Rapha and Andrews can't be considered positives of the window if they were already in the squad.

Ironically, DK sacking the kitman has had a negative effect as fans are becoming impatient and the lack of info being leaked is only making it worse, imo.

I’m fairly relaxed about it. Think we’ll see a couple good players in. I just hope we have contingencies in place if we miss our main targets.

So DK sacked the kit man (is it because he got caught leaking information?) and all the team spirit goes out of the window and FL goes in a fucking mood about it can't see it somehow.

I wouldn’t call it impatient, the season has started and we only have 3 players signed and not fixed what we needed to

After putting a lot of thought in to it lastnight, with the lack of news/signing/anything coming from the club, I've told my wife this morning I'm going to Ibiza with the lads. She didnt understand at first but I think I'm winning her round!
Anyone fancy tagging along?

I spoke to him on Tuesday at the game and there wasn't really anything worth sharing.

We've had 2 bids for 2 separate players turned down in the last 2 weeks.
Bassette looking to be moved out (permanent preferable).
We made contact very early on in the Window about Callum Doyle, he presumes about a loan with option / obligation.
Man City wanted to wait and see if any offers came in which is fair enough.
(If we are not successful with Hughes, he doesn't know if Doyle will be revisited).
I know there is a lot of talk in the media about Rudoni, but he told me Southampton haven't stopped monitoring Sheaf since they bid for him 2 summers ago.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes. All sorts of things could be standing in the way. Grimes for example, the fee was agreed early on, but we could not agree a payment structure with Swansea, it took a long time to get that negotiating done.
Also if we are looking at any Premier league team players, could have been waiting until managers make decisions on them for the up coming season etc.

But that's not a good window. Turning down bids that aren't high enough to meet your valuation (that tbf, are only reported rumours, not fact) doesn't equate to a good window. Apart from RB we've haven't strengthened any area on the pitch.

All the problems that were there last season and throughout pre-season haven't been addressed at all. Whilst the race for top 6 has arguably got stronger than last season, we have stood still (thus far).

You can't tread water in a league like the championship. You either swim or drown. You can't stay still and hope you'll have a finish the same as last season. That's not how it works.

Judging the window part way through is like cooking a piece of chicken for less than the required time and then complaining that it is still a bit raw.

I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we wait and see how the next 2 weeks pans out and then if we haven’t made process with 1 or 2 days of the window to go it will be fair to express some concern.

We haven't though, without injury, we have Dovin No1, Wilson No13. With Dovins injury we have a LOAN player instead. Even if the argument of Rushworth being better than Dovin (Yet to be decided, can't claim anything after just 1 appearance) he's only here temporarily. Thats, if anything, stagnated. It certainly hasn't improved that position.

If Rushworth was a permanent and when Dovin is back they were competing for No1, id say its an improvement, but as it stands, a loan with the same 2 players as back up (wilson/collins) is NOT an improvement in my eyes!

We've covered the problem with a plaster rather than stitching it up and repairing it properly.

So loan players now don’t count as a way of improving the squad ?? That’s a new one …. Last summer it was the fact we were not signing loan players that was the problem …..

A poster mentioned we would target Will Smallbone in a separate deal to the Rudoni deal, there’s no way I’d want to pay £8m for him, would much rather his Irish counterpart Jason Knight at Bristol City for likely a lot less.

There is no planet in which Bristol City would sell Knight to us for less than £8 million.

No, because as of yet he's not an improvement on Dovin. He could yet be a great keeper, but as it stands, were no better/worse off than having Dovin fit and Wilson on the bench. Tomato - Potato.
I dont think we're weaker in that position, but i certainly wouldn't say we've "strengthened". Especially as the plaster we've used to cover it up with has a January recall. Then we're back to Dovin/Wilson. Thats not an improvement, that's the same!

We would have started the season with Wilson and Collins for a minimum half a season. We have improved on those 2.

Still think we are thrown a curveball deal in the remaining weeks as we saw with Grimes in Jan - Maybe a name none of us have even mentioned so far this summer

Fair to say on previous that Doug will sanction a deal if he feels it is too good of a deal not to do

It has to be an improvement on where we would be at this current time if we hadn't signed Rushworth or someone of his quality. Come January we can cross that bridge when/if it happens. Apparently we tried to sign Rushworth but they wouldn't sell. Not much we can do about that if no other equivalent keeper is available at our price.

If Dovin wasnt injured we'd of started Dovin/Wilson. Unfortunately he is, so we've bought in a loan. So were starting loan/Wilson.
I'm not saying Rushworth isn't a good keeper, but I'm sure when Dovin is back and Rushworth were to drop to the bench, Brighton will soon recall him. Leaving us right back where we would've been anyway, Dovin/Wilson.

So exactly my point, were no different in goal. Not weaker, not stronger. Like for like.

Come December, Dovin could be back fit, and Rushworth might keep him out the team. Or Brighton might be happy for him to stay and fight for his shirt and we might do the last half of the season Rushworth/Dovin or Dovin/Rushworth. And at that point we can revisit this post and I'll happily say we've improved the GK position. But right now, as it stands, were just the same. No improvement. Just a lot of variables

Can't be right at all, we had strengthene dthis year and not losing any key players. Milan and KKH were going to be fighting out for first choice or KKH LB.

We didn't need to sell Milan and had no cashflow issues.
