Exactly. Good player but think he deserves a shot at prem football in a mid to low team for experience.

Doyle's rating on FotMob for 24/25 was 7.09, Kitching's was 6.91.

Doyle played 40 games to Kitching's 27 in the Championship and contributed more goals (1 more) and assists (7).

Could not find stats for both players last season.

We leak goals and we score goals. Lampard is following the numbers and working on the defence. Simples

I don't think it's an either / or to be honest. Both need sorting.

I'd be disappointed if FL and the recruitment staff addressed one and not the other.

Playing in a 3 is very different to playing in a 2.

Pace does not make a defender good or bad, but is helpful, however can be mitigated by other factors eg positioning, awareness, pace in other defensive positions.

Doyle isn’t quick, but he’s got good experience at our level and it only 21. Bags of potential and is a ball playing CB, which will suit how we play and hopefully allow Grimes to play further forward.

£10m is way too much but £4m (the price we paid for Kitching….) with adds on if we go up, is an excellent deal.

I'm glad somebody else sees past the love for Sakamoto. Yes he works hard, which is always good from a fans perspective. But he is inconsistent, especially away from home. Also at times very predictable.

I don't care if he beats his man twice, especially if the end result is he doesn't get his cross in.

I am fully aware of his strengths but they don't blind me from his weaknesses.

Competition would be good for him.

Doug prefers younger players we can develop and make a profit on. (Grimes being an exception who was bought due to Sheaf's injuries and form and was excellent value)

Supposing we bought Doyle for £10m and he helps get us into the premier league, it would be money we'll spent. Plus his value would be even higher as a premier league CH.

We've done well developing young players like Gyokeres, Hamer, and O'hare.
And current players have seen their value increase, like MVE, Sakamoto, Dovin, Eccles and Rudoni etc.

(the same rational was applied to Simms, but some you win, some you lose)

Bassette is yet to touch the ball once for Belgium and hasn’t featured in a single squad since he was called up last minute. What appears to be a glorified work experience placement is doing an awful let of legwork in justifying what kind of potential he has.

But would it in the Premier League? Recovery pace does not excuse poor defending in the first place.

At our level he is excellent. Has he got development potential, probably yes. I think most Premier League teams will be happy to monitor how he develops under Frank.

Not really sure where I stand with Bassette. I'm probably in the minority but I wouldn't be that opposed to moving him on if there was an opportunity to make a profit on the fee initially paid.

He's incredibly raw and didn't really show enough last season to make me think he would ever be a resounding success at this level.

Granted it's still early days though so a loan is probably a more logical option for this season.

Took a while to adjust but he was finding his feet in the end before his injury. He’ll be a key player this season.

Yes, limited. Looked duff at first but improved under Lampard for a spell. At £5m we overpaid.

Under Robins he was often played out of position which didn't help at all and he showed what he was capable of under FL. I think he'll be a real threat for us next season.

Good player and a player often mentioned on championship podcasts and such as a reason we're expected to do well. Think we can expect more from him next season too.

A guy I know works with a Peterborough fan and reckons EMC was one of the best players to ever play for them. We haven’t seen the very best of him yet, but that run of games before he got injured he was often unplayable, he’s quality.

He looked bloody awful at first. He's quite skillful but his skill is a bit laboured for me and predictable. Strong though.

He took time to settle, agreed.
But his return over the season wasnt too bad, I think 5 or six goals and 5 assists in 30 league games and I'm sure he'll improve on that if he stays injury free.

If EMC can stay off the injury table he’ll be an incredible player for us. You saw the difference in him as soon as Lampard came through the door, type of player we can build a side around.

I think what hurts us most with EMC is his inability to play on the right. He looks a totally different player on that side. This affects our ability to be flexible with subs and means that Wright has to play CF. Have we ever seen Wright on the right? I wonder why he can’t play there.

Same for Sakamoto… are all our wingers incapable of swapping sides?

As mentioned, Robins was regularly playing him in very strange roles or dropping him to the bench. He didn't really fit in the system at the time and Robins didn't know how / refused to play to his strengths.

As MacAnthony alluded to when EMC was sold to us, it's LW or nothing with him. Which FL recognised. It's not really a surprise that he hit form not long after he was being played in his favoured position.

For EMC, I wonder if we'll see him faster and more nimble - it looked to me like he has lost a bit of bulk/muscle when I've seen him on pre season videos.

Agree he can over complicate things at times, hopefully the coaches can work with him on that.

EMC was fantastic for Peterborough and I was really excited to see what he could do for us. I thought he performed ok in his first season at this level. Could have easily chalked up a few more goals too. The stats show he performs to a very similar standard as Wright and IIRC even got more assists than him.

Big season coming up for us both, If he stays fit as first choice, I could easily see him get similar figures to what Rudoni did this year.
