Europe's transfer market is agitated, and one of the names that attract attention comes from Venezuela. Midfielder Daniel Pereira, from Austin FC, from the United States, is close to closing with Coventry City, from the second division of English football.

The RTI Esporte Agency found that the negotiation is around US$ 4 million (R$ 22.3 million, at the current price). The talks are at an advanced stage and may be officially announced in the coming days by Coventry City.

At the age of 25, Daniel Pereira has stood out for his vision of the game, marking ability and quality in the ball output. Sources close to the operation say that the board of the English club sees in the Venezuelan a key piece for the 2025/2026 season.

The go to English football represents an important leap in the player's trajectory. The Championship, the equivalent of Series B of the Brazilian Championship, is known for its intense rhythm, competitiveness and strong presence of fans.

Also according to the report, Daniel Pereira, in addition to Coventry City, also received contacts from Birmingham City and Derby County, both from England. However, he ended up being sensitised to the club's sports project that is based northwest of London.

The player's relay has been working behind the scenes to finalise the negotiation in the coming days. This is because there is an understanding that playing the EFL Championship also means more visibility. And this exhibition can open doors to the Premier League.

If he can cope with these challenges, Daniel Pereira has the potential to shine. The talent is there. Now, he needs to show that he can turn a bet into reality. England can be the stage where the Venezuelan will write the next chapter of his career.

How long will Daniel Pereira's contract with Austin FC last?

First of all, Daniel Pereira has been at Austin FC since 2021. At the time, he ended up being the club's first choice in the MLS SuperDraft. This is because he had stood out in the Virginia Tech Hokies university team between 2019 and 2020.

Since then, he has played more than 100 matches for the North American team. In the meantime, he scored 5 goals and made 11 assists. In addition, the player adds calls to Venezuela's main team. His contract with Austin FC ends in December 2025.

Why?

I honestly can't believe you think a player with exactly zero Championship experience would start in front of a player that showed last season in the Championship that he is very good at this level, so much that he won all the awards going for the club he played for.

Wagner thought he needed to do something dramatic to keep the toothless goons noshing on his pole after an embarrassing relegation. Little did he know arranging to get the bins collected would have sufficed.

Where you're paying millions for the likes of Kitching from a relegated Barnsley then £500k for Jake looks like the steal of the season!

Barnsley hadn’t been relegated the season before but narrowly missed out on promotion. They didn’t want to sell their captain. We were desperate to buy him - after eliminating Brekalo from our options. Finally, at the end of the transfer window, we signed our man but the price had been forced up.

We paid over the odds for Kitching but found ourselves in a sellers market for him. There is unlikely to be a stampede for Bidwell’s signature after his collapse in form at the end of last season.

Daniel — strong footman from hot land Venezuela. Him brave. Him smart. Him fast. Him no fear. Daniel live with Austin tribe many sun — fight many fight, chase many ball.

Now, new tribe in far-cold island — Coventry — say, “We want Daniel!” They give 4 million shiny rock. Big trade! Almost done.

Daniel kill 5 mammoth (goal), help tribe kill 11 more (pass-to-kill). Him fight over 100 times. Big warrior! Other tribe, Venezuela, say “Daniel strong, come fight for big land!”

Two more moon-turns, rope-tie with Austin break (end 2025). But Daniel no wait. Him want big fight now. Him see land of fog, fans scream loud, ground shake — England!

Other tribes — Birmingham, Derby — try take Daniel. But Coventry say best words. Daniel heart say “I go.”

Now Daniel go. Bring spear, bring fire, bring strong leg. England no ready. Daniel come. Fight soon. Mammoths beware. Ugh!England wait. Daniel ready? Time will show.

We all get frustrated by slower progress on transfers than we would like but in truth the timing is not as important as the player.

look at Grimes, joined in Jan and really helped us go up another level.

If we sign 2 more of that quality in the last week of the window it will still be a successful window.

Can’t blame Dolan tbh. He’s been a championship regular for the last 3.5 years on less than £10k a week.

If I was one of my teams best players and earned less than half what some of the benchwarmers did I’d want my next contract to be huge to make up for it.
