Any football rumours? The exchange rate in 2016 before the EU referendum was 1.3649 to £1. Post 2016 referendum was 1.1069. Which made every CCFC transfer from an EU country significantly more expensive.
The rate of 2008 that you quote is related to the banking crisis initiated by the "casino banking" activities related to the sub-prime market.
An inconvenient fact for pro-brexit supporters

I'd take Dolan over Gassama all day but really it depends whether you're looking for someone to potentially oust the starter or someone who's happy being a squad player in a certain position. Sometimes you have to accept the latter if there are other priorities.
He’s been released?Rhian Brewster is on a free - obvious talent there, could be worth a punt? Lampard could be the man to get that talent out?
When we were linked with him in January the Scottish football Reddit was stunned that anyone would spend money on him.Not saying that's wrong, but a glance at the Swansea forum would've told you that Gyökeres isn't at the level. Professionals within the club would have a better idea, and if we did go for him we'll just have to wait and judge him in a City shirt.
Seems this is just random rumour anyway at the moment though.
Apparently so - was just reading an article on him. It hasn’t worked out for him at Sheff Utd. But surely our style of play would suit him better. He’s been released?
He’d be good and versatile.Apparently so - was just reading an article on him. It hasn’t worked out for him at Sheff Utd. But surely our style of play would suit him better.
We may well still stick a decent amount of money in a CB and if one of our strikers leave, another striker too. I'm not saying it's a signing that would leave anyone buzzing but it's continual squad improvement as it's a much better option than Raphael, despite what we keep hearing about him.I feel like some games aren’t suited to Sakamoto and we need a strong option, Matondo doesn’t seem a strong option. Ideally it would be good to have a RWB signed who can play both RW and RWB if MVE goes.
Probably naive of me to wish this but I’d hope each signing we are progressively getting better players as we chase the dizzy heights of the Prem… not squad fillers who we moan about. It would be the equivalent of signing someone who currently fails to appease us like BTA or Bassette, we need players who step up.
Dolan, Gassanga or that Georgian fella who appears to be close to joining Bristol City (know nothing about him but has an impressive list of clubs interested in him)
Bristol City plotting move to beat La Liga clubs to signing of 8-goal winger
Bristol City have reached a verbal agreement to sign Giorgi Abuashvili from Kolkheti Poti, although there is rival interest from clubs abroad.footballleagueworld.co.uk
If you were looking for someone to play second fiddle to Sakamoto it would be worth looking at Botan Ameen of Swindon Town. Only 18 years old and could be worth a fair amount in years to come if he lives up to the potential

If you apply that logic the only club who get fair market value are clubs who sell a player against his wishes. That is clearly not true.

In the same way he's made Simms , BTA and Bassette such lethal strikers you mean?Rhian Brewster is on a free - obvious talent there, could be worth a punt? Lampard could be the man to get that talent out?
Bassette is 20 remember and has massive potential. Simms is just rubbish and BTA just hasn't been used to his strength. In the same way he's made Simms , BTA and Bassette such lethal strikers you mean?
So long as his wages aren't astronomical, he'd be worth a go on a free.Rhian Brewster is on a free - obvious talent there, could be worth a punt? Lampard could be the man to get that talent out?
I certainly dont think Brewster has any more potential than Bassette. Even Simms has a better scoring record, and as you say, hes rubbish.Bassette is 20 remember and has massive potential. Simms is just rubbish and BTA just hasn't been used to his strength.
Maybe after pre season and 1/4 of the season then we'll discuss this.
The worst exchange rate was €1.02 to the £ in 2008. It's currently €1.15.
Anyway.... football rumours, got anything?
Absolutely bonkers commentI certainly dont think Brewster has any more potential than Bassette.
I've mentioned him before on here being a great pick up, talented lad on a free, don't forget he went for 22 million a few years backRhian Brewster is on a free - obvious talent there, could be worth a punt? Lampard could be the man to get that talent out?
Probably got a pay rise as a result of promotion. Won't play there, but wages likely to be high. What about Patrick Roberts at Sunderland to fight out the position with Sakamoto. A loan would probably suit all parties too.
Your first line was such a bad opinion the rest became an irrelevanceI certainly dont think Brewster has any more potential than Bassette. Even Simms has a better scoring record, and as you say, hes rubbish.
Brewster has scored 8 goals in 4 seasons, so why would anyone think hes the answer to our striking problem? Maybe his woeful record is the reason he's available for free.
I know people are desperate for gossip at the moment, but we are just getting linked with anyone now just because they happen to be on a free.
Yeah a few years back is the key here. He hasn't lived up to the hype and was on silly money.I've mentioned him before on here being a great pick up, talented lad on a free, don't forget he went for 22 million a few years back
CluelessYour first line was such a bad opinion the rest became an irrelevance
I've never slagged Simms off, Brewster doesn't have to be a world beater otherwise he'd be playing in a top team in the prem, he's versatile and would be competition for tats out on the right or can get upfront if needed, he would be squad depth plus Lampard would improve himYeah a few years back is the key here. He could do a job somewhere but he isn't ever going to be a world beater and will probably be wanting more than I'd pay.
Find it funny how people slag off Simms but would want distinctly average players as a replacement just because of old hype.
Well as long as he once went for a lot of money that's all right then.I've mentioned him before on here being a great pick up, talented lad on a free, don't forget he went for 22 million a few years back

Difference is Brewster was a key player in the England U17 World Cup winning team. There is absolutely more potential than Simms. Sheff Utd aren’t known for playing the type of football that would suit these types of players, and he did alright whilst on loan at SwanseaI certainly dont think Brewster has any more potential than Bassette. So one person says he must be good because he once cost £20+ million and now your saying hes worth a punt because he was good when he was 17 ????Difference is Brewster was a key player in the England U17 World Cup winning team. there’s obviously a risk that he doesn’t kick on and he’s just run of the mill, but is less of a risk that paying money for the Belgian lad who’s a bit of an unknown quality.
