If he wants out of course then his value drops regardless. Two seasons of a goal every other game and your money back (including wages) isn’t to be sniffed at.

This isn’t true though is it.

Just because a player would like to further their career at another club then it doesn’t follow that their fee reduces.

I dont doubt that Mbeumo wants to leave Brentford for United or Spurs but so far Brentford have turned down 3 bids of over £50m ….

6 weeks until the window shuts no player is getting their valuation discounted mid July unless it was not realistic in the first place or the club are in financial distress.

With high level pre season games ahead , we could see a much changed forward line come the 9th ?
Lampard isn’t coming in second this season

Lampard made it clear from his team selection in the play off games that Simms is not his man.
Unless something has changed his opinion since then its fair to assume that he's actively looking for a quality striker.
BTA and Bassette (currently) are not good enough to hold down a regular place in a top end Championship team.

I agree but he is relatively better than Wilson which is the crux of my point.

Despite an off season last campaign Simms will still attract suitors and for a 7 figure fee. The same cannot be said for Wilson.

What makes you want him? I’ve looked over his history and don’t see anything that stands out at all. Plus he’s a midget

I know that Guiu has turned Ipswich down, saying he doesn't want Championship football and prefers a loan to a Spanish club but I'd like to think Lampard is using his Chelsea connections to try to change his mind once they return from USA.
He looks exactly the type of quality young striker who'd make a massive impact on a loan with option to buy subject to promotion deal.

If he wants to make it in England, he needs to learn how to play in England and championship would give him that so he understands speed and physicality of our game that he won’t get from going to Spain

Tbf, there are probably other priorities to spend big on, as cover, for probably under £1 million, I don't hate it. A player in his mid 20s who once cost over £10 million, you'd have to feel there's something to work with.

I tend to agree but £10 million is the best part of a 30% profit. I hope we can get as much as possible though of course
30% is good? We're on something like a 2,000% profit on Gyokeres and 1,400% on Hamer with more to come from both.

We're actually being run like a proper football club for once. If you want one of our best players you have to pay the price. It isn't done by the % but a mixture of the players worth for us as well as approximate value of similar transfers for similar players. What we paid doesn't come into it. If/when we sell Rudoni we will break our transfer record. All players have a price. Wright and Rudoni will go for a combined total of close to 50m. Wright is at least one of the best strikers in the Championship and Rudoni will prove this season he is about the best player in the Championship. They are both very important to us. So if you want them you will have to meet our value or look elsewhere.

Can see that being a no go immediately whatever happens next. A loan maybe, but to have it in writing that we would have an option to buy for a player that has stated he doesn't want a Championship move? He's already turned down a better side than us.

Of course it does. The value of an unhappy player to us is less than the value of a happy one. We become a more motivated seller.

Ipswich’s average attendance is
just shy of 30K. As much progress we have made we simply cannot compete with the parachute clubs

I dunno man, went on loan and couldn’t even get a look in, Rangers fans seem to want him gone. Dele Alli & Ravel Morrison were both once worth a lot but eventually you say nahhh not for me.

This Gassanga transfer to Rangers seems to be getting shaky, if we have the money coming in from Gyokeres and potentially Wright, MVE and maybeee Hamer… I wouldn’t be shopping in Poundland

It was more if he’s pushing to go. Last summer I’d have said £15m+ easily but the way he ended the season I think we’d struggle to get that upfront

Rival teams will remember his hatrixk and fact he got to playoff semi final not that he had a poor game or 2 in the final run in. That's just depressive cov fans.

That makes no difference, unless it's an elite manager in the PL or it's equivalent abroad.

There’s no way we let Wright go for £10m. An international, on a long contract, good age profile and a proven 20 goal striker. We should be busting a gut to retain. But if we can’t it’s got to be 15-20m
If the deal isn’t worth up to £20m with add-ons and so on, we’ve wasted our time.

His initial fee was £7.7m and with two good goal scoring seasons, he’s clearly one of the best strikers in the league. £10m is probably break even after considering his wages and if you sell Wright, the fee needs to cover his replacement and 2-3 other signings.

Vik fetched £20+ million with 12 months on his contract, that’s a basis you’d move Wright on for in his prime and under a decent contract. Olly Watkins was sold for £30m in the championship under a decent contract length, albeit he was younger than Wright and possibly Vik at the time.

I'd take Dolan over Gassama all day but really it depends whether you're looking for someone to potentially oust the starter or someone who's happy being a squad player in a certain position. Sometimes you have to accept the latter if there are other priorities.

If you apply that logic the only club who get fair market value are clubs who sell a player against his wishes. That is clearly not true.

The exchange rate in 2016 before the EU referendum was 1.3649 to £1. Post 2016 referendum was 1.1069. Which made every CCFC transfer from an EU country significantly more expensive.
The rate of 2008 that you quote is related to the banking crisis initiated by the "casino banking" activities related to the sub-prime market.
An inconvenient fact for pro-brexit supporters

I'll be honest I know nothing about him. But a quick glance at the Rangers forum and the consensus seems to be he clearly wasn't at the level for Rangers and he is surplus to requirements.

I sense we can do better.

Not saying that's wrong, but a glance at the Swansea forum would've told you that Gyökeres isn't at the level. Professionals within the club would have a better idea, and if we did go for him we'll just have to wait and judge him in a City shirt.

Seems this is just random rumour anyway at the moment though.
