Weren't there a mention of Caleb Wiley at some point on here?

Seems to be going Watford on a loan to buy option..

We really need a backup RW in my opinion. For me if theres no more movement thats probably the priority.

Just think we need another attacking option off the bench. Even a loan that can fill in either side would get a lot of minutes coming in at 60-70 pretty much every game regardless.

We'll definitely be looking to shift a striker to get in a winger IMO

For all the "options" people are adding as our depth on the wing - only 2 of them (3 if Rapha comes good but feels unlikely) actually play the role how Lampard wants & both have had injury issues

in January we signed Patterson and nearly signed Matondo - it was clearly an area of focus then so I don't see why it wouldn't be now

Yeah I think so too. Think Rapha needs a loan and we need a viable option apart from Saka.

I did like the Dolan rumour for that reason. What’s happening with him anyway

Think Rapha on loan and Torp will be players to watch this season.

A midfield of Grimes Torp and Rudoni will personally ace the championship.

I think a loan is best suited for him personally.

I know hes getting good reports, but going from barely any minutes last year, to a viable rotation option this is a big ask

Yeah I'm thinking that too.

I've corrected my statement, he may prove to be a player we watch on loan. Could be a standout in a low champ or high L1 side potentially if anyone wants to risk it.

If we could pick up a winger on loan surely it'd make sense to do Doak from Liverpool if he's available.

A class player at this level, stood out at Middlesbrough last season. He is injury prone though which may be an issue.

Liverpool will probably look to move him on permanently as a part of their wider funding strategy for their transfer spend this window. I know Palace were rumoured to be interested.

If not, I would imagine it would command a healthy loan fee to bring him in. Something I very much doubt DK would willingly sanction.

Raphael could save us some work if he puts in some good mins in pre-season. If he doesn't, loan him out till Jan and get someone in. Depth on the whole right flank needs sorting somehow.

Yes. The Matondo ‘deal’ also makes me suspect there’s still some cash left. It was proposed that this would be a temp to perm deal, with a fee. While at the same time we clearly also needed a LB and RB…which we’ve signed.

Matondo will be available again, and probably for very little, after managing just 330 mins for Hannover

We’ve come this far and are close to getting promoted, the funds will be made available.

We may have partly finance other deals with outgoings (such as MVE) but by and large, the squad only needs a few players.

Would be curious to see if the club still has any interest after not a great loan spell, can’t imagine they would

I'd put a decent chunk of change on MVE and/or KKH playing RW for us (former if he doesn't leave of course).

Think they've been strategic in the fact they know they want competition for tatsu, and in essence if MVE leaves they can buy that replacement, if he doesn't, they have 2 very attacking minded wingbacks who can play higher up instead.

No idea how it would work but if we ran out of wingers what about this system? Would it work?

Gk - Wilson
RB - van Ewijk
CB - Thomas
CB - Kitching
LB - Kesler-Hayden
CDM - Grimes
RCM - Torp
CM - Sheaf
LCM - Rudoni
ST - Simms
ST - Wright

where Grimes tucks into the backline allowing both fullbacks to bomb forward providing width along with Wright and Rudoni (of which keeps his free role) Sheaf and Torp playmaking

Lacks a lot of width. You’d essentially be pushing the fullbacks up a lot and having a DM drop into a three anyway so may as well play 532.

The sort of idea is a 3421 on attack with Rudoni and Wright either side of Simms and Torp and Sheaf in the center with Grimes dropping deeper. Then on defence effectively a 442/4132

Seeing Sunderland spend cash all over the shop makes me wonder had we of gone up do you think we would have been spending £20-30m each on players like they are…. I highly doubt it.

Credit to them for giving it a proper go. Big outlay if they don’t manage to stay up.

They are giving it a good go but they’re going to be heavily impacted by AFCON, assuming their players are called up - can miss between 4-6 PL games I believe.

One thing I’d noticed with all the promoted clubs is that they’re adding physicality and speed to their sides. Leeds have signed a bunch of giants so far.

I think it’s recognised that the jump in physicality is huge, believe Russell Martin said it took them by surprise and they struggled to complete.

MVE has played RW before, maybe that’s FL’s thinking, KKH, MVE, Rafa and Tats for right sided positions?

We’ll surely be signing 1-2 wingers this window. Unless Rapha has turned a massive corner, we need 4 wingers to ensure there’s enough good quality depth on the bench to change games.

Against Sunderland in the playoffs, we didn’t really have any attacking threats on the bench at AM/out wide.

Well be sticking with 4 3 3 but if we do have issues with wingers being available we'll go 5 3 2.
The first bit of that statement is from the horses mouth, the 2nd bit is based on what we did when Wright and EMC were injured.

Hopefully we do yes and fingers crossed we dont have the same injury issues as last season where all our options for a position were out at the same time
