Not surprised at the list to be moved on. But as well as getting rid you also have to have a buyer. Probably no problem for the likes of Sheaf, Eccles even Bidwell. But we’ll have more trouble shifting Simms, Binks, Lati, Allen and Collins.

Isn't Allen out of contract?

Lati would get a move, he is very versatile which is always a good trait to have, I still wouldn't be opposed to keeping him as a squad player personally

A L1 club will take a punt on Collins

But yeah I cannot see someone buying Simms and Binks out of their contracts, I think we are wedded to them for the forseeable future

Side note and it could be/probably is a load of nonsense, I heard someone say the other day that Binks is our highest paid player, is that true @Saddlebrains

Is it feasible to look at Armando Broja? Maybe a loan to buy deal?

The Binks rumour comes from a website that's obviously not accurate.

Can he play on the left? Can’t see Thomas being benched by Lampard.

Maybe Cameron Burgess on a free although again probably wouldn’t happen

One of MR's more baffling signings let's put it that way

A million quid on a young CB isn’t that confusing. I’d say Bassette was weirder.

He wasn't really anything to shout about last season though let's be honest, people loved him for that tackle on Bruno at Wembley but other than that had we signed him or not I don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid either way

He'd have been fine as a squad player on a free transfer.

He was 22 and £1.3m. People go on like we spent our entire budget on him as a marquee signing.

While he’s not on anywhere near as much as the website makes out, the devil is in the detail for me on Binks. Depends how much he is on and where in the wage structure he is.

If he’s on around £15,000 weekly that’s a lot for a squad player which could of been used elsewhere

Ge is, but criticising his wages wouldn’t allow us to find something else to moan about Robins about for those that enjoy that sort of thing. So we have to pretend £1.3m on a 22 year old that didn’t work out is the greatest mismanagement of funds since Enron.

Without outgoings in midfield, think we’d only really need the following in the window?

Assuming Collins, Bidwell, one of the back up CB leave, and one of the ST (if wright would need a ST with back up Lw unless pato stays?)

GK (Loan or experienced back up)
Back up RB (loan?)
Experienced CB
Starting LB
Starting/Back up RW
Starting ST

If Wright goes would you be happy with Simms and BTA as our striking options?

Truthfully no should have put in addition if wright goes.

Think a target man is a must. Think our system would click so much better with one who can hold up the ball and get on the end of crosses

Would love Hirst at Ipswich but think they will retain him due to Delap going

Our defence has improved since Grimes came in for protection. Like a big sticking plaster.

Moore if United let him go. In the top 92% for aerial duels won. Experienced as well which means if we keep Simms, he might help his development.

Hasn’t done great in recent years but feel in our system, he’d have fun. Especially if you look to sign a right winger who loves to pepper the ball with crosses.

Think Darling is off to Birmingham or Wrexham. Not sure we are in for him

Would get Poku over Dolan but understand Dolan has a lot more experience.

I assume you mean the top 8%, I imagine Dasilva is in the top 92% of aerials won.

We are already way ahead for scoring headers even without those players. The issue isn’t scoring goals full stop, it’s at the back and in breaking down teams who sit in and counter.

It’s these threads that expose how narrow our knowledge is on players. Players like Dolan and Darling are good players who are roughly the ‘right’ profile.

I’d like us to utilise free agency and pick up some smart signings to bolster the squad. There will be players all over Europe who will be on the shortlist and hopefully we can pick up a big money signing or two.

Like that Granada LB (Brau) we’ve supposedly signed!

It’s also about relieving pressure when we’re under it though which Simms entirely fails to do.

I wonder if two play offs and an FA Cup semi in three years plus a world famous manager might see us attract players from further afield. Club international profile must be the highest since the PL.
