Possibly, that still counts in my 6 or 7 though and i won't have it taken from me if correct.

To be honest even with our squad as it is now would be enough to get top 6 again, its about adding a couple additions to strengthen the depth, potentially a RB, CM, RW is all we need to have enough but we’d all like more such as a LB, CB and ST which would need outgoings

We need to see if any of our star players are moving on as well. Lots of moving pieces

As has been said, it's a lot harder to finalise deals when the player in questions first reply isn't "you'll pay me to play football?" ok

At this level he would be excellent. Scored 25 in his last season in the Championship

In 2018-19! On the basis that he did well when last in a particular league we should resign Clarrie Bourton.

Since then he’s scored 37 goals across six seasons.

His attitude was an absolute disgrace at Everton (inc under Lampard).

Anyway; the latest from the Liverpool Echo is that Marseilles are not only forced to keep him, they are forced to pay for him too.

Everton have just made millions from quiet transfer masterstroke

Everton were able to recoup some of the money lost on the French forward despite his struggle on Merseyside

I think we will have at least 5 signings.

I think Allen, Binks/Lati, Simms/BTA, Collins and Bassette will go out permenantly or on loan.

Thats 5 signings to replace right there

I don't want an argument lol, just wondered why people think we will bring that many in when we already have a fairly big squad. If we move people on then yes they'll need replacing but I can't see many leaving

The club will be actively looking to move on 4-5 I would've thought.

Whether they're successful in that is of course another matter but ultimately this isn't Lampard's squad and he'll want the opportunity to make changes this summer to mould it to his liking.

I am surprised many don’t think Lampard is happy with players in the squad.

it’s not his squad and I can see him wanting to move on a fair few fringe players

The club doesn't have a big squad, in any case the size is limited by the following restrictions.

Championship clubs can have squads of up to 25 players, of which a minimum of 8 need to be home grown (ie of any nationality and registered for 3 seasons with an FA or FAW prior to age 21). In the Championship, you're allowed an unlimited amount of under-21s on permanent contracts without registering them, but you would need to register any loanees among your 25 players, even if they're under-21s. Goalkeepers over the age of 21 also have to be registered as part of the 25-man squad in the Championship.

Agreed, I think quite a few will be moved on especially as bar Grimes the rest of the team hasn’t been built by Frank and it’s MR team.

Add to that the fact I think MVE and Sheaf will also go it leaves you needing a GK, CM and 2 RBs and that is just for starters

It's the net figure between ins and outs that counts. Can't see that being more than an additional 3 or 4 tops. But everybody that goes need replacing, ideally to a higher standard

Definite ins regardless of any departures - keeper, central defence, 1st choice left back and back up right back. Everything else is conditional on outgoings, even Simms and BTA.

We scored lots of goals and gave away lots....

Nobody saying 6/7 is saying that needs to be added onto what we have, we all expect there to be outgoings.

I can only see 2 signings without outgoings that being RB and RW, purely because we have no depth there.
GK - Collins out new one in probably loan
LB - Bidwell out permanent in
CB - Binks or Lati out Permanent in
CM - Allen out permanent in
ST - Simms or Asante out permanent in

So I can see it as a minimum 5 in 3 out to a maximum 7 in 5 out
Not too much turnover but not much is needed we just need to tune the squad

I think we’re going to sign 15 players minimum. Frank wants to roll back the first few Abramovich years at Chelsea. We’re bidding £15 million for Juan Sebastian Veron.

5 summer signings would be the lowest amount for over a decade aside from Sisus last summer when we sold Hyam. And then we signed 4. Before that it was 2013/14 when we were moving to Northampton.

That’s the level you are expecting when we’ve got a new manager?

Of all the league minutes played for us last season we've only lost 0.3% of them (Paterson, Palmer and Tavares). For context the Championship average is having lost 17.9%.

So it stands to reason that we will see very low squad churn compared to normal. I hope we show a bit more ambition than that and actively look to upgrade some of the players that are here already, but I wouldn't be shocked if we don't go that way.

Tbf whenever we signed Bright Enobhakare I fail to count him as a transfer

Surely nobody is looking at transfers as a net figure.

Nobody was knocking arounds saying "ackshully we've only made 1 signing net" after completely revamping the squad in League 2

It was often argued along those lines in 23/24 to try and justify the piss poor first few months of the season.

Of course its bloody "net", otherwise the squad would just grow and grow. You need two for every outfield position plus 3 goalies and a couple of extras. The assumption within the 25 or so players is that some are 'squad' only

And if you hadn't noticed we are challenging for the play offs in the Championship rather than being freshly relegated and reliant on frees like Vincenti, McDonald, O'Brien, Grimmer and Hyam. This time every player will cost serious money one way or another

Yeh not sure what's going on here, feels like people trying to cover their backs so they can be right whatever happens. No one has ever talked about amount of signings as net, that would be fucking weird.

The transfer business is net but the signings are just the new additions. To suggest otherwise is silly.

I think we could see as many as 8 first teamers come in. GK, LB, CBx2, CMx2, STx2, that's before we have a big sale. Likes of Binks, Lats, Allen potentially even Torp (good player but body can't seem to handle the demand) could be move on, Would be nice to start back filling positions too, we need that production line firing up and start to give us a steady stream of players.
