Obviously a long shot but remember Jimmy saying we were looking at a LB who can play play LCB and he is apparently looking for a permanent move?

Yeah, not sure how we have "missed out" on a player that basically agreed to sign for Bolton in Feb.

Depends what we offered him , we'd comfortably beat Bolton to a signature if we really wanted the player

Wonder If we are playing in the championship if we will relook at any targets from January. Ronnie Edward’s has had a good loan at QPR although assume will be in Southampton’s plans. Thomas has gone back to Huddersfield. Matondo has got injured again so looks to be heading back to rangers

Hopefully we go in for Adebayo. Matondo and Thomas would be brilliant too.

If only we would have managed to get Callum Doyle and Ronnie Edwards seeming as we were after both… our defence would have been a lot better. Would love to still get both in the summer

Suspect Ronnie Edward’s will be first choice for Saints as they’ve been relegated

My ideal shopping list if we went up:
- Cameron Carter-Vickers
- Jacob Greaves
- Kai Wagner
- Tyrhys Dolan
- Mathias Kvistgaarden

There are a few shrewd signings we could make if we were to go up.

Campbell from Sheff U would be one. Knows the dark arts and certainly an upgrade on Simms

Liam Walsh ran the game against Luton and would pair well with Rudoni.

someone like Giles could be available for a cut price fee and has premier league experience

finally Matty James could come in as a player coach and be used when we need to rest grimes against the smaller teams

Callum Doyle would be my number 1 target but probably cost 10 mil. Can't see Doug stretching too it. Plenty of decent free transfers available so pick up some of them and see what's left in the kitty for a marquee signing or 2.
Will be interesting to see who we sell or keep if we don't go up. Will we need to sell one of the big 4 in Wright, Sheaf, MVE or Rudoni to fund anyone coming in or will Lampard say keep the crown jewels, give me less money and let me go for it next season.

We may be going into know-mans-land in a couple of weeks and even with promotion we may lose a few 'favs' but our market for potential new players will be a lot higher than we ever anticipated. Doyle would be good if we were not successful but he is not Premier class, as many of our squad aren't. I do not envisage wholesale changes but if our ambition for next season, if promoted, was to stay up then we would need an additional 7 or 8 'experienced' players. Being a big fish in a small pond is very different from being a minnow in a sea. I still have my reservations for us to go up because, if we do, one year later our feeling could be very different, look at Luton's nose dive. We have experienced many highs over the last few years, are we ready to go back to being failures?
