Massive over reaction in this thread. The team that has got us to where we are must go to be replaced by an assortment of hit and miss dross. Just need two or three sensible additions but more importantly - keep what has got us here- especially Wright.

Only thing I’m worried about is Madrid or Barcelona coming in for Grimes, that would be the end of our season.

The team needs adding to more than anything and we will see signings so people are discussing that. Where are the hit or miss dross suggestions?
I'm seeing more probably unrealistic suggestions than dross suggestions, which is actually rare for this place.

Rushworth has only played this season. It's a team of the year (2025).

BTA was in a purple patch that I'm very doubtful he'll be able to replicate

Agreed. I dont think BTA is a PL starter, but his energy and commitment off the bench would be great.
Simms can barely get a game in the Championship, no need to carry that on in the PL. Hes zero chance of making it as a PL striker. Even if we break even, use the funds to put towards the wage bill.

Lets see shall we. Frank talked about how hard he worked over the summer. I prefer to give credit to the player rather than declare it a random purple patch until he shows it to be that.

Besiktas don't spend the money required to take Haji. I doubt Galatasaray would be interested. When you weigh it up he's probably limited to one club if he wants to go back to Turkey. Fenerbahce.

He's outscored his xG this year by a significant margin. His championship career average is converting ~89% of his xG into goals, this season it's 127%. Either he's transformed from a below average to an elite finisher over the summer, or it's an unsustainable purple patch.

Still a useful player in this league but not prem quality imo.

Doesn't come into it for me. He's 28 with 18 months on his contract and I don't think he's progressed over his time here. It's a risk, but if we got a decent offer and had a strong replacement ready I'd understand the thinking. I'd rather we keep things steady and see him hit form but if not, I'd get it.
I agree with the improvement.
The transition from MR to FL has seen so many improvements across the pitch.
JDS looks a different player.
Eccles, Torp, and Rudi look like new signings.
EMC and BTA the same.
Wright has made no improvement AT ALL from the player we signed. No progression at all in his time at the club. Still a great player in flashes that goes missing for long periods at a time. The team has grown, he hasn't. For that reason, I wouldn't lose any sleep if we were to cash in a decent offer on him.

Even if we dont immediately replace him in Jan, with BTA coming back, and hopefully a winger or 2 coming in, we do have goals coming from elsewhere on the pitch. He hasnt scored in week's anyway so cant say losing his goals will cost us dearly. The goals he has scored this season anyway were in a 7-1 win, a 4-0 win, a 5-0 win and 1 against Norwich that hit him rather than him scoring a goal. The Norwich goal aside, he's not scored crucial goals in crucial games. Hes got on the scoresheet in easy matches where half the team joined in too.

I got pelters from some for suggesting we need 4 in in Jan. Seems like mood is changing. I really don't think it would be over the top to want upgraded cover for Grimes/Torp, 2 attacking options and a worthy LB option, I said it before Bidwells game is too far removed from Dasilva and Brau is a wingback at best. 1 signing and 3 loans could do it.

It would be idiotic to risk what we built so far on the chance that we can keep players fit with no cover.

We can't ditch every player when we get there. He's our player of the season possibly apart from Rushworth. I also don't care about outscoring xG and refuse to see how outscoring xG has become a bad thing.

Outscoring your xg is obviously good, but does suggest you're unlikely to maintain it if historically you have underperformed.

We need to do as much as we can while we’ve got this opportunity. Couple of perms and loans.

Right, but I know BTA was a bit iffy last season, you're preaching to the choir on that. But I'm judging him based on what I've seen this season. If he regresses again then fair enough but any player performing like that has my backing.

Sergeant is not Prem quality, he also misses a lot of games through Injury. Norwich turned down 10 million + add on's in the summer and quoted teams 20 mil if they wanted him. Not worth the money.

I still like the Mehmeti shout. Bristol have to either sell him now or let him go for free in 6 months. Are they rich enough to turn down a £5m bid?

Bristol City: Robins attribute £18.6m loss to lack of player sales

Bristol City post pre-tax losses of £18.6m in their accounts for 2024-25, a huge increase from the previous year.

Is he? He doesn’t strike me as someone who’d necessarily light up the Prem.

£5m for a player nearly out of contract seems like a foolish decision. Much like offered Bamford an expensive contract for half a season.

Mehmeti, great player at this level but unless we’re confident he’d make the grade in the Prem, this isn’t happening.

Confused why everyone is saying Ferguson on loan is impossible? He’s had a poor spell at Roma, not getting a look in at Brighton. His other prem options probably come down to someone like Burnley/West Ham and outside of that it’s another loan abroad but likely to a club a tier below the likes of Roma so would probably be around us in terms of spending power. Come here, score 7-10 goals second half of the year and get some confidence back isn’t that mental of a sell to him.
