It means he wanted to go Ipswich? What about the lad from Brentford we're linked with?

The two biggest holes in the team have been filled in the first week of the window with one of the players scoring twice on 3 starts.

I'd say the biggest hole is that huge gaping one in CM.

They probably meant Manneh. If you think we saw a meltdown yesterday, then that really would kick people off!

In all seriousness though, I am as pissed off as anyone about these performances and I am concerned, but this forum is barely holding itself together at this point. In the last 12 hours we have some of the strangest threads started I have ever seen in relation to where the club is. Then you have got people saying we don't need any signings, and others saying they want Sheaf back as well. I am practically at my wits' end here.

So it wasn't the fact we had no cover on both wings?

The space that was available between the midfield and defence last night was not down to Frank. Torp and BTA didn't drop when we were in possession, that left us with 4 defenders that were the only options available to Grimes. That result was caused by their unwillingness to drop and make themselves available when defenders were being pressed. That said I still think if we have the headroom we need to buy a CM that not just breaks up play but can take a pass under pressure so we're not resulting back to long balls.

That's how we have set up in the last few games, it is by design and I is on Lampard.

He changed it at home against Leicester and it worked in the 2nd half.

It gets exaggerated late on in games as players become leggy, but we ask an awful lot of our CMs physically.

For me Onyeka is needed.

We are so vulnerable to the counter and lack physicality in the middle. He helps us in both regards.

It's the internet. People get each other wound up then they all start spiraling and group pissing their pants. Back in the day you just used to curse at the ground (or TV) shout "useless cunts" at the players to make yourself feel better, go home and moan to the old man then it was done.
Now meltdowns can go on for days, if not weeks.

Onyeka won't make a difference unless we sort out defensive cover on the wings. Also Kitching isn't all that either.

He'd make a difference in the phase of play between where our attacks with 6 or more players level or ahead of the ball breaks down and the bit where a couple of opponents stoll through the middle of the park unopposed for 30 yards before playing an unopposed pass to an unmarked winger.

He'll make a large difference in breaking up opposition play before they become a threat.

It’s never happening but we could really have looked at a left back and just bit the bullet. Dasilva is regressing every week again and last night trying to clear with his left foot was pitiful

Yes disappointing he didn’t scoop it away with his right.
But the problem was Kitch (and Thomas and Torp!!!) loosing the ball in the most stupid position when we are all pushing forward to attack.
It was so painful to watch and kept being repeated.
That is why the chuckle brothers were both in The 4’s. Very poor performances off them both.

The centre backs were awful but they are very exposed with our disappearing full backs

Just been reading that Caleb Wiley, a LB / LWB who has been on loan at Watford from Chelsea has been recalled. I wonder where he is going?

I’ve got no problem with us bringing loans as long as they are top end championship players who will raise the level of the team. Esse has already done that to be fair. What I and I think the majority of us will find difficult to accept is if we don’t bring in anybody at all

I just saw DK in the Gosforf Arms with Gary McAllister offering him all he can drink and pies from Greggs if he comes out of retirement and signs a 6 month contract.

Because we’re in a difficult position of not knowing what division we’ll be in next year.

there’s no point spending money on players that might only be good enough for 6 months if we are buying championship players.

And premier league players cost more which we can’t afford (until we get prem money too)

If we don’t resolve our current level of performance, then we know what league we will be in. The Championship

And this is where the Doug King limitations come in. Like it or not you have to gamble if you want to get promoted

Yeah I wasn’t saying that it was the correct way to do it.
I read somewhere that Hull realised that this is the best chance they have of going up (less parachute teams etc) which is why they’ve properly gone for it

Next season there could be 8/9 teams with parachute payments in the Championship apparently. Hull for a side that can't pay for transfers or loan fees are doing very well.

People say this every year

to be fair if blues and Wrexham are still in championship with Leicester and sheff Utd and then add West Ham and wolves it does feel like a difficult season

If Doug cant get anything done by the close he will and deserves to be heavily criticized. Its been obvious what's been needed and we have had time to get things done. But we do seem to put all our eggs in one basket and then end up with nobody having to make do...

As a group they maybe close but it's not balanced and that is going to be a worry as it could potentially cost us a top 2 spot. We certainly have been down the road with Doug before, this time effort and an excuse will not be swallowed by the fans. All around are closing the gap in more ways than one

Austin has built a squad that’s consistently competed at the right end of the table and is now top of the league. Yes he was dealt a good hand with the Vik and Gus money, but it’s a hand he played well. There are plenty of teams who’ve spent more money in this division who have much less to show for it.

Seen a few on Facebook saying that Onyeka is on his way in with Rudoni being sold to Brentford and being loaned back for the remainder of the season. I can see it happening in fairness.
