Thing is though, if he wasnt good enough for the step up for them and needed replacing 6 months ago, its surely a silly signing. If he was free or loan id be all over it. Exactly what we need for promotion push. But why spend cash on a player already deemed not good enough for the step up by another club?He captained them last season and is very highly rated. He is a victim of them needing to sign premier level players to stay up, similar to their keeper. I think he would be a decent signing, probbly lower than his value too due to his contract situation.
To be honest, we’ve addressed the biggest need imo so even if we signed no one else, it’s still a decent transfer window.Let’s reserve judgment until the window shuts at least.
The issue is we have players that we cant get rid of, as you say, we have 1 capable LB, but we have 3 in the squad, Doug paid top wages for Woolfenden, who now appears to be 4th choice CH and is unlikely to get many minutes. We have Lats and Allen who can be bit part players, but arnt good enough to give competition to the regular starters, and Eccles who is also a fringe player. We will never get a better chance than this its simple
If we dont spend a penny in this window its not good enough is it let's be honest. Its not like we have a complete squad, we have 1 capable left back, 1 capable DM.
Yes the squads done brilliantly so far, but our rivals are strengthening and closing. Standing still will get us overtaken
They closed the gap when we had several players missing and couldn't put anyone on the bench that could change a game.We will never get a better chance than this its simple

you dont bring a trollop in for the sake of itI really dont get the severe aversion to bringing in additional players.
You don't get a special trophy if you get promoted using a limited number of players
But if we dont sign anyone or go up its ok because dough has paid for the ground and bought in Esse on loan! Its not all doom and gloom. We will never get a better chance than this its simple

Doug won't keep adding to the squad while we carry so many players.
And the only person to blame will be the owner who everyone is in love with on here. Time for a reality check, spending £0 when your top in January should be a criminal offence. Let’s hope he has a surprise or 2 up his sleeve but I think we’re doneWe will never get a better chance than this its simple

This is rude. Seeing him in the red and white shirt was an instant boner killerHere you go! Knock one out to this!
No you bring in players better than what you have.you dont bring a trollop in for the sake of it
I love a caramac. They dont do them anymore though!I’m going to be really controversial here, get yourself a Caramac bar.
He’s winding you up, hilarious tbh mad how many people fall for it every single timeThought you said we were 100% getting a CM? Surely you shouldnt need to worry if so....
So they wouldn't want him on loan? Not really. He is a loan.
Is there a good chance should we not go up?So they wouldn't want him on loan?
We're the only side that didn't rely on loans for outfield players. Now we have spaces for them. There's a good chance of keeping Esse permanently after this season. He loves working with Lampard and is going to improve even more.
Appreciate the sarcasm but the idea of anyone being “doom and gloom” at this specific moment of being a Coventry fan right now is hilariousBut if we dont sign anyone or go up its ok because dough has paid for the ground and bought in Esse on loan! Its not all doom and gloom.

Just that one'God I could murder a Cadburys flake then I guess you won't let me into heaven,
Or maybe you would 'cause their adverts promote oral sex'

You call yourself ‘astute’ and used to sit all day and night on a Sunderland forum, the fact you make wild claims like you have done is hilarious. Proper sad individualSo they wouldn't want him on loan?

Ah …thought I saw an opportunity to wheel out Mick. My mistakeTo be honest, we’ve addressed the biggest need imo so even if we signed no one else, it’s still a decent transfer window.
Esse on loan is a coup of a signing.
So you only want to sign premier league level players before we actually get there?Thing is though, if he wasnt good enough for the step up for them and needed replacing 6 months ago, its surely a silly signing. Yes. Lampard said in an interview that Esse talks to him after each game asking him what he could have done better and on how he can improve. Is there a good chance should we not go up?
How do you know he loves working with Lampard. Is there an interview I missed.
So there isn't any evidence he loves working with him then, it is conjecture.Yes. Lampard said in an interview that Esse talks to him after each game asking him what he could have done better and on how he can improve.
Bidwell has slowed tremendously and does need replacing unfortunatelyThere is an extremely high chance that it is, in fact, good enough. We shall see at the end of the season.
Are we no longer classing Jake Bidwell or Josh Eccles as capable players now?
Just that one
So who has said we should be happy with what we have? Everyone would love more signings but most understand how hard it is to bring in the calibre of players we need to be able to play a big part for the rest of the season. The usual anti signing brigade are saying we should be happy with what we have.
All thats being asked for is a statement midfield signing ala Hamer, Louza, Onyeka and Andrews going out on loan.
That isn't asking for the world, particularly for a team at the top of the league looking to cement their position there.
Ipswich and Boro are managing it.So who has said we should be happy with what we have? Everyone would love more signings but most understand how hard it is to bring in the calibre of players we need to be able to play a big part for the rest of the season.
A top quality, starting leftback is my dream this week.Bidwell has slowed tremendously and does need replacing unfortunately
For a side at the top of the table we need better.
Shame, because I have always rated him, but he's 32 now and will be 33 in March.
Oh yes. Not sure why that had been erased from my memory.
Yeah, I think that's probably the case.I wonder if we're trying to move Wolfenden on? Was a huge waste of money, with the fee and the wages. He'll be gone in the summer whatever happens, I hope.
Exactly! But if we dont sign anyone or go up its ok because dough has paid for the ground and bought in Esse on loan! Its not all doom and gloom.

Its def wages, why would you not want to come to a team that’s going to be in the prem next season, yeah, that’s the only worry if the unthinkable happens then it’ll be why didn’t we sign someone, but I reckon what we’ve got will get it doneA CM is very much on the shopping list and has been all window. Why do you think the links to the likes of Neil, Hamer and Onyeka have been about?
Let's hope we manage to get it over the line because if we dont strengthen and we miss out Doug will need to answer to it
