He is actually other than Grimes and now probably Rushy the player we can ill afford to lose the most

We are twice the side when he is on the pitch in my opinion

It's almost as if Strikers depend on confidence and have fluctuations in form throughout their careers........ I wonder if anyone else has ever noticed that

It's clearly his fitness, by professional footballer standards he's an absolute fat knacker. It's a shame as he's incredibly talented. I don't know why this triggers so many on here as if you're calling their mum fat, it's a bit weird tbh.
I'd have him back for a reasonable price mind.

TBF to Hamer though he wasn't a fat knacker while he was here and was probably one of the fittest players at the club. If he did come back under Lampard and Chris Jones I'd be hopeful he'd rediscover that. It seems like there is a bit of indiscipline at Sheffield Utd, Campbell up front is similar.

If Hamer does walk through the doors again, and bags some winning goals, all these fat jokes and comments, people would eat their words...and so would Hamer

Thank you and good night.

I would take Hamer back in a heartbeat

He might not be the ball winning CM we were looking for, but if a player of his ability becomes available and the price is right, you bite your right off for them.

The guy can win games for you single handedly and the boost and belief it would give to players and fans alike here, would be huge.

I'm not believing it WILL happen, but I think it would be fabulous if it did.

I was his biggest critic at the start of the season, but have eaten a very large portion of humble pie. He needs to be starting now, ahead of Rudoni. He makes Haji Wright a better player, too

I think excellent is pushing it when comparing to Hamer, but yet again I feel I need to point out my issue with our CBs is their defending.

If we could convince Doug to spend the money I’d go for Louza but I think one of the bigger PL clubs would be in for him but just read this and surely we can compete?

OK memes and trolling aside I would prefer Hamer assuming he is capable of playing, which he clearly is because I think we lack his ability to switch play and his ability to quickly transition the team from defence to attack both of which we’ve lacked since he left. I don’t think we just need someone with legs and if we did I’d promote Eccles first. I also don’t think we need a destroyer, that’s Grimes an another more defensive mid wouldn’t help us.

If we are dropping Torp we need a right footed set piece taker, which Hamer is and a better one than Torp.

He ticks all the boxes for me. Onyeka doesn’t.

Hamer has been playing further forward in the Championship at Sheff U. For the nostalgia and clear Championship quality, it’s a no brainer. If it’s on, why not?

However, if anyone thinks we’re putting Hamer alongside Grimes at CM playing as we do… I’ve got bridge to sell them. Rudoni’s defensive numbers are much stronger and I wouldn’t put him at CM.

A player like Matisuwa is what this team needs at that CM role and Onyeka is good profile for this position. Ideally, I’d love to pick up a younger player than him but he’s a player that’ll come in, be a league leading player and be able to be a good squad in the Prem.

Tom Williams off then? Odd to sign a left back for the 21s when we've got one who played for England currently in the 18s.

Is it a ‘dream signing?’ Louza is undoubtedly one of, if not the best CM in the league, but his role and Grimes are identical.

You don’t want a situation where you have too many chefs and not enough cooks.

Why has no one from the PL bought him then?

Because good tho he was in a pisspoor team, he wasn’t good enough to make the difference and keep them up.

The following year Ipswich gambled on loaning Kalvin Phillips rather than signing Hamer.
His subsequent performance in the championship only served to reinforce the point that the best player of the division wasn’t enough to get his team promoted.

The fitness issues are real. He was unable to complete 90 mins in two Wembley play off finals and - arguably - both incidents resulted in his team losing the final. Since the start of this season his physical appearance has seemed less athletic and clubs will know all about his rumoured refuelling habits.

Thought I’d have a look on Sheffields forums to see if there was rumours on there.

Only find I could find was someone saying a championship big hitter was looking at £12 million for Hamer and Burrows. Probably absolute shite but fun to think about

That was 3-5 seasons ago, he’s a different player and all you have to do is look at his output. Defensively, his numbers are declining so I have my

Stylistically, we’re a very different team to the 22/23 outfit. We packed the box with 3 CBs and 2 AMs ahead of the CMs a lot of the time.

Hamer is one of the players in the league when he’s in form, imo it doesn’t seem like a good fit for us unless we’re planning to change tactics.

Silly question with his defence numbers could this reflect him in part playing on the left wing and not in the centre of the pitch?

Clearly unfit as well but that seems to be the case for the entire United squad

Wasn't a stamina issue for us; he got injured. Though I don't think this changes what you're saying.

Fitness issues are recent, though, and perhaps because he's allowed to get away with it more at Sheffield United.

He’s been playing mostly out wide for Sheff Utd (a ridiculous decision btw) so of course his defensive numbers won’t be the same. Doesn’t mean he’s lost the ability to do it.
