Absolutely. James and Skipp both put our midfield to shame with how much they were helping out their defenders.

We desperately need someone to make up for Grimes and Torp’s lack of athleticism and defensive ability.

This is one position Doug needs to push the boat and get that quality addition that has experience and will add that steel.

Would you drop Torp and lose the vision and technical ability that we had been crying out for whilst he was injured, or would you drop Grimes who is our metronome. Two defensive minded CMs in Grimes and a hard tackling DM would mean large gaps between the midfield and Rudoni/Strikers.

The problem with the midfield 3 of Grimes - Torp - Rudoni is they all play in a straight line. A 4-2-3-1 formation should have someone playing next to Grimes when we are out of possession. Torp and Rudoni are too far forward so if we lose possession, its only Grimes in the centre of the pitch. The Leicester goal and 2 of Birmingham's goals came from us losing possession inside our own half and then a midfielder playing a through ball to split the defence. Its too easy for teams to attack us.

Grimes - Torp - Rudoni works at home against the shite down the bottom of the table where they sit deep and we dominate possession, but against good teams, its like playing without a midfield. The donut formation.

We need someone who can sit next to Grimes and is more athletic and can get around the pitch. Torp and Eccles are neat and tidy but they are not athletic enough to cover the pitch.

Make the midfield more compact when we haven't got the ball and 2/3rds of the teams in this division won't create many chances. As it stands, we're gifting teams 2/3/4 great goal scoring chances per game. Even Charlton looked good against us.

Not even that, perhaps just someone strong in the tackle and doing defensive work.

I’ve said it for a long time - Torp is a luxury player. Technically he’s excellent but he doesn’t get around the pitch and certainly lacks defensively. Possibly 10 is his position where he can influence without having to cover acres.

He’s clearly not match fit. If we had proper cover it wouldn’t be an issue.

Would be good to have a CM player in before we go to Norwich , where I can't even remember the last time we won and then OPR who will want to put up a fight after that 7-1 thrashing .

It’s that lack of quality that means he doesn’t I think. If we have proper cover you ease Torp in like others.

Could have easily played Eccles in there. I like Torp when we’re on the front foot and dominating but when we have to earn that I don’t think he has the legs.

Yeah we could have played Jamie Allen too but I think the problem is Lampard doesn’t rate Eccles anything like as much as Torp. That’s why I want someone in he does rate.

I think we use Grimes too much and we looked better in the second half when we move the ball quicker instead of always playing backwards to Grimes so hopefully a box to box midfield player is coming in .

He’s played more than 100 times in the Championship for what has more often than not been a play-off calibre team at worst. I’ve no idea why people are so desperate to upgrade on him just so someone else can sit on the bench, he very rarely lets us down.
