That’s fine I’m more a glass half full type, best season I can remember for a while and you’d think we were in a relegation battle since December ( not you personally), I’d be worried if we carried on the same form the next 2 games but we’re more or less back to how we were, full strength plus the new lads, Asante won’t have forgotten how to score and I’m pretty sure you’ll see a difference in wright as soon as torp and Asante are back, we’re in a brilliant position, perfect game Saturday to get us going again,

The Gypsy Rose Lees and Mystic Megs are working overtime on here. Speculating from the same bits that come out over social media and the Lampard interviews.
Lamps said we are ok up front. Distraction or fact. No one knows.
The ITK's never saw Torp or Bassette coming at all, or in fact most of our signings. They were nearly all on no ones radar until the selling club or agent leaked something.
I suspect Manneh was seen as too good to miss development wise, but money talks. Appears we have done all the hard work for Birmingham. Would bet our development team over theirs any day.
All the noise coming over the internet is that a midfielder is probably our most likely signing. Still doesn't mean it is happening, but if I was going to blag it, that is what I would say.
A football observer with genuine links to agents will reveal something, way before anyone on here.

Harrison Reed was a name mentioned, and @Jimmy87 mentioned a European midfielder

MW19–261.130.881.261.4

After Matchweek 18, goals collapse, xG drops significantly and goal-creating actions collapse completely
In the first 18 games:
  • Coventry scored ~13 goals more than xG
  • Goals per shot on target were exceptionally high
  • Several results (QPR, Derby) were statistical outliers
The fall in xG and GCA points to a structural change. Shot-creating actions don’t fall off a cliff. Goal-creating actions do. Coventry is still getting into attacking sequences, but far fewer end in decisive, defence-breaking actions. In practical terms:
  • more shots from poorer locations
  • fewer cutbacks
  • fewer late runners
  • fewer broken defensive structures
Stats after Thomas-Asante’s injury:
  • fewer carries that commit defenders
  • fewer box arrivals from midfield
  • fewer first-time final actions
Stats with Torp out:
  • fewer secondary runs
  • fewer overloads
  • easier to defend for opponents
Stats with Rudoni at 10:
  • possession edges up
  • progressive passing does not
  • GCA does not recover
That indicates a slower tempo, not a lack of ability. Control increases, threat does not. The strikers aren't helping. Once midfield running drops, they can’t:
  • compensate by creating space
  • or raise xG through individual movement
Defences can sit higher; chance quality drops, and the numbers follow. That’s why we currently look too easy to defend against.

From our defensive viewpoint, stats suggest there is no sudden drop-off that would indicate we need to sign a defender. It's just that they are coming under more criticism as we aren't doing it in the final third.
  • Tackles + interceptions remain stable
  • Errors leading to shots/goals are low
  • Block and interception volumes are consistent
The good news is that with Asante back, Torp available, and new wingers who can run beyond the fullback, this should drive xG and GCA. If xG does not rebound, then Frank will need a new striker who is pace-first, off-ball, space-creating, with goals optional. Our stats say Coventry’s problem is the quality of chance creation, not shot volume. We need a striker with pace who forces defences deeper, creates space for midfield runners and enables higher-quality shots for others. Given the importance of Asnate and Torp to this season's success, we may also need a backup in January, someone who can play that box-to-box midfield role, run behind the striker, receive and play quickly, and attack the box.

You are not taking into account extenuating circumstances. Illness has been really bad in Coventry and among our squad. Everyone I know in Cov has had the bug, everyone I know who lives elsewhere hasn't. Friends and family who visited Cov over Christmas caught it. Sheffield U complained of having it, but that is about it so far.
Our small squad, heavier grounds, more difficult opponents (on paper) and a particular run of poor game changing referee decisions have had serious knock on effects on performance. Add in our off form best striker and it has been a perfect storm. I don't subscribe to the subjective idea that decisions even out over the season.
Other teams have found a way to combat us which has also led to worse outcomes.
We are about to see just how good Lampard and his team are and if King is going to help him out. The two loanees appear to be a step in the right direction.

Exactly, it’s as simple as that… not quite full strength for Saturday so expecting a scrappy win, think you’ll see us back to our best v milwall,

Looked very pedestrian against Birmingham too, but those performances have been and gone. The squad should be determined to put things right at the weekend and have had a full week to prep for it.

Is it? We were very poor at the back and unconvincing going forward aside from two well taken goals from outside the box. There were mitigating circumstances behind it, but it wasn't a good performance.

The truth is we were much more like our old selves, dominating the ball, pinning Birmingham in their own half, creating chances …. We could have been 3-1 up before Blues got their second.

Our defending was woeful and it cost us but it was a better performance than many other recent ones.

Not the impression I had of the performance, but even if I agreed on the above, the defending 'counts' as much as the attacking play. Agree to disagree on this one I think.

Brighton are considering recalling on-loan attacking midfielder Jeremy Sarmiento amid interest from the Championship.

Sarmiento is currently on loan in Italy with Cremonese but is struggling for game-time.

The 23-year-old has made seven appearances, all as a substitute, since joining in the summer.

Brighton do not want to recall the 23-year-old unless they are satisfied there is enough interest to send him back out on loan. Could be worth a shot get him on loan

Birmingham can afford to just make mistakes and reload with more players and if that doesn’t work sack the manager and if that doesn’t work sign a load more players in the summer until eventually it does work.
We don’t have that luxury of time or money thank god.
