Can we keep up the league and have a cup run Simultaneously ? for me the league is obviously and infinitely more important

We'll throw the FA Cup this year - or, more bluntly, field a very weak team. If we are playing a L1, or Championship team, lump on early, as we know what will happen.

Think we’d be silly to jeopardise the league position to attempt a cup run! Don’t think the squad is filled enough to be able to play a strong 2nd 11.

I think we need to get out of the cup ASAP, preferably get a championship side and field the kids along with some fringe players, and then concentrate on the league.

The very last thing we need is a fixture pile up and injured or fatigued players.
Getting out the cup at the third round stage could mean a couple of free Saturdays to rest players and focus on the training ground stuff.
Also some other championship teams might have a run and pick up injuries etc.

Cup run when we’ve been in the premier league for a few years, better chance of winning it with a Prem side and also better chance of staying up simultaneously to a cup run if we’re more established

Frank is righting all the wrongs and we’re owed an FA Cup final as well as a title winning party.

I reckon we will go out in the 4th or 5th round dependent on how the draw goes. We can field a decent enough 2nd string to see us past plenty of sides lower down. It'd be good to give players like KKH and Andrews more gametime.

Getting promotion is far more important than a good cup run.

We need to get into the Premier League, establish ourselves there and then in five or six years time have a good run in the Champions League.

I am on the other side ..as much as getting promoted is great from a money side ..look at Luton all they have from promotion is a relegation the year after ..we won the cup nearly 40 years ago and still rave about it

Why show Luton as an example?
Why not show Bournmouth, Brentford, Brighton, Sunderland, Fulham or Palace?

Because we never lost to the others at Wembley, as gut wrenching as that day was if we had been relegated the next season it counts for nothing , where an fa cup win lasts for ever ., it’s just my opinion,we don’t celebrate 1967 as our biggest achievement but we do do with 1987

We'll put out a weakened team and I get it. My preference is to get poor teams we can get past despite that for a couple of rounds, then if we end up in the later rounds start putting out a full team.

Team will be.

Wilson
KHH
Wolf
Thomas/Kitching
Brau
Allen
Eccells
Andrews
Emc/saka 45 mins each.
Wright/Simms 45 mins each
Asante

If we pull out Man United away

Might be a bit stronger.

Obviously promotion is the main aim. but there's no way Frank "throws" the FA cup

See what the draw is, if its a lower league team, make changes accordingly, its its a big boy, he's not going to make lots of changes and risk a hammering

Knowing our luck..this is the year we will pull out a massive team home or away.

Just mark my words.

We will get Liverpool at home and just have to put out first team and do them!!

Theres a week between games either side of fa cup weekend. So there is room for our 3 new signings to bed in and play.

I never want us to lose and I normally love the FA Cup but I'll happily go straight out this year if we get automatic promotion. Especially if we're champions and Matty Grimes gets to lift that lovely old Division 1 trophy. The one I remember players like Emlyn Hughes lifting when I was growing up and seemed a world away from us

I agree with your comments about fielding a weakened team - but don't forget we have an owner who will see the financial benefits of a cup run!

How many points clear (of 3rd) would we need to be - for us to take the FA Cup seriously?

If we're 20 points clear and have new additions to the squad lined-up?!

Personally - I think December will be tough and we'll be handful clear of Ipswich and few more clear of someone else. If that happens - then we play the kids

However, if we beat the tractor boys home & away, smash everyone else and we're on 60pts+ on 3rd round day - then we should probably give it a go!

Really don’t want to advance in the FA Cup and hope DK has not made any demands for an extended cup run like 2 seasons ago. Just focus on the league and get the job done. We don’t have the squad depth to handle both the league and cup.

If we could get some January deals done fast, would be a good chance to blood them in the English game (considering one is rumoured from Europe and another from Sweden).

Ideally tho, let’s just focus on the league

What’s different is that we are having a very strong push for automatic promotion and have a great chance of actually achieving it.
