Hi,
Bury fan here in peace. Me and a few mates are thinking about getting train from Manchester to Coventry when we play you at your place, however I have been told its a distance between the train station and the ground. Is this true or is it a simple route?

It's a way out but the station is close to the city centre so a simple bus out would work fine

Yes, best bet is to go down to Pool Meadow bus station (it's well sign-posted, 'bout 15 mins from the train station on foot, or there are buses that go there from outside the train station).

There's a matchday special bus from Pool Meadow. Can't remember what the number/stand is, but someone on here will know.

Actually I've selected this game to take my young lad to for his first game - I really wanted one we were sure to win and the consensus on here was this was a decent bet! Either way hope we all have a good day

Ha ha I proposed to the future Mrs Bam this time last year in Portugal and rang my best mate and before I had chance to say anything he said" we lost to Bury" oops lol.

Get any bus outside the train station that says Pool Meadow, or Via Pool Meadow.

Once at the bus station get the 101 football special bus.

Ask for a matchday special ticket.

Also Coventry buses don't give change.

I wouldn't imagine a taxi would be much and it means you don't have to dick around. Get up there and have a pint in the casino before the game instead.

The only problem with getting a taxi up there is you have to get one back.

Not easy to flag one down in a 20k crowd(I'm being hopeful lol!).

We haven't forget about last season haha was a decent win but if I'm being truthful I'd say we are alot weaker now. Do you still have that young coloured winger with the daft haircut? Impressed me at Gigg.

Thanks for the help if a taxi is only 6/7 quid we may just be better getting a taxi seen as there is 8 of us it's 4 per.

Is there any decent friendly pubs near ground? One with real ale would be lovely haha. Only 19 but grandad got us into real ale and lower league football haha!

Yeah I think the official Equality and Diversity stuff says coloured is bad and black is correct. But I've been watching South Park for the last 40 minutes, my moral compass is probably shot..

I was trying to be the opposite infact, the fact that singing ba ba black as been banned in schools Proberly suggests that black is also not very appropriate either.

Either way I wasn't trying to be racist in fact the opposite.

I only wanna know if there is a decent boozer for away fans

I'd say it's to do with the negative connotations and possible implied racism, y'know, the "black sheep"? Although it hadn't occurred to me as racist, but then I hadn't really thought about it...

Anyhoo, I'm pretty certain you meant no ill will. But 'tis duh internet, innit? You'll get picked up on any slight PC faux-pas. Which is what I think you were trying to avoid. To quote South Park on euthanasia, "I'm not going near that one with a 60-foot pole!" is often a good approach. But then, if you'd tried to describe him without alluding to his ethnicity, that would have probably sounded more awkward..guess the hairstyle was a good effort

I would go up to a black man and call him black because I'm pretty sure he knows he his. I was trying to describe somebody with there features and trying to do it in an offensive.

If you found what I sai offensive I apologise but I feel very awkward at saying black, dark etc whereas saying coloured could refer to a number of types of people whether it be sol Campbell or Dj Campbell who is not as 'black'

I think we established it was Bigi. He is black and African = fact.

The term 'coloured' although an inoffensive word on its own is not used in official publications etc as it has offensive overtones for two reasons (1) it was a term used in the US to refer to non-whites in racist legislation up to the 1960s eg on buses it would say 'seating reserved for coloureds'... and (2) in South Africa 'coloureds' were non white and non blacks who were usually of Asian origins who under Aparteid were given some privileges not afforded to black people but were treated poorly by legislation compared to white people.

I have a fair few good friends that are black. One in particular goes mental if you call her coloured. "Am I purple, green, blue, orange, blue....no....I am black. Call me black if you have to mention my colour" or "You call yourself white, but you are not white. When you are cold you turn blue. When you are hot you go red. When you get a tan you go brown, and you have the nerve to call me coloured"

My eldest is half indian. Most people that don't know who she is don't have a clue during the summer. They just think she has a tan. People have been known to make racist comments in front of her, not knowing they are insulting her at the same time. She is 5'9" and part time model, although not so much these days as she is now an accountant, and travels a lot with her work. You get lads with their eyes popping out of their heads looking at her and see her as white, but make racist comments in front of her. She soon brings them down to earth

For future reference a black person in the vast majority of the time prefers to be called black if you have to use their colour. Most are proud to be black. No offence taken here, just the same as most people. Someone black might see it differently though.
