With Robins finally securing his top target this summer, how do we rate this summer’s business?

Here’s a few things I like about our recruitment policy:
  • Longer term contracts: most players have been signed on 3yr deals. Hopefully, this will add some continuity that we’ve missed in our previous spell in L1.
  • Investment in the future: we’ve taken time to sign players that can add quality to our U23s. Greater strength in this team should provide the senior team with players who can contribute in the coming seasons.
  • Permanent signings: following on from last year, most of our signings have been permanents, with only 2 signings being loans.
  • We’ve spent a bit of money: 500k on Chaplin and a bit more on other strikers, on contract renews, and outspending rivals on luring free agents. Alongside the aforementioned points, you get the impression that there is a project in place to get back up to the Championship.
We’ve got to look at this squad in terms of a project. All our needs aren’t going to be addressed in one window and this season I’d be happy with consolidating, ideally in the top half. Our average age is 23.6, so if we can add some experienced quality to our team, you’d think we’d be in a position to really compete.

Midfielders:
