2017/18 - Sky Blues start the season at a new ground just outside the city limits (1 Viewer)

Like several people on here I don't think this will happen, because I don't think SISU has any intention of building a new stadium - it is all just part of the emotional blackmail to try and steal the Ricoh from the taxpayers.

However, let's assume that they do go ahead. Would you start attending home games again? Not you RFC, I guess you'd keep going to Sixfields - but all the people boycotting today?

For me, the answer is no, I would not go. I support the team from Coventry, not the the team who plays close to Cov. If I wanted the latter I'd support Nuneaton or Bedworth Utd.

Let's assume 1 mile outside the city limits somewhere. Let's face it, the Ricoh isn't exactly in the town centre, so let's assume it is just as accessible, but not in Coventry.

Just inside or just outside wouldn't really bother me. As long as it's not clearly nearer to another town/city I'd go. But 2017/18 is a hell of a long time away, and in all honesty I'd have probably moved on by then. Hopefully not still living in Coventry.

Wouldn't bother me to be fair if it was 1 mile outside. Council boundaries change all the time.

A good post and I concur they have no intention in building a new ground it's total bullshit.
I don't go to Sixfields because I want to watch "my" club play in Coventry and that's that for me.
Would I go to this mythical new stadium if by magic it shot up ? Well if it wasn't in our boundary I
would have to say no. But it ain't going to happen so we're stuck where we are.

Probably wouldn't go. It has to be in or literally next to the city boundary for me to still class it as Coventry City FC.

If its 1 mile from the boundary its likely to be in another town.

I'm not explicitly boycotting so much as not going because it's an arse. If a stadium was within a mile of the city boundaries I probably would, it's close enough to count for me.

From a financial point of view I have to say it depends on the cost of a taxi to/from the station and if it's on a regular bus route or not. I only use a taxi if very late/close to kick off and the move to the Ricoh meant the taxi fares are higher and I can't afford too much on top of that. If there hasn't been a problem with the trains and I arrive early I get the bus from Broadgate outside Cash Generators so there would need to be a bus. Can't walk to the Ricoh like I did to HR.

Sorry I'm not privileged to the 'detail' of any negotiations or exactly what our owners actually want and have never ever mentioned 'freehold'!

I'm desperately trying to look at the 'long-term', our owners will move-on when they get a return on their investment but my Club will hopefully still be here when they've gone, the same applies to both Managers & Players but I will still be supporting Coventry City Football Club, just as I've done for more years than I care to remember.

Yes sorry it is, but I never seem to get an answer from anyone (who says the club needs the freehold) as to what benefit the club would get from owning the freehold and the ACL revenues as opposed to just the ACL revenues. The Trust have asked Otium this question as well, so it's not just me who would like an answer.

I think you know that there isn't a valid answer and so do those being asked, I just wish someone would publically ask this in live interview so we can hear the spluttering and bluster in person.

The M6 at Junction 3 is outside of "Coventry". It changes from Coventry just as you get on the roundabout by the Ricoh towards the M6.

Well the OP did say we needed the freehold so I was hoping they could provide the reason as I'm genuinely curious, as are the Trust. It's odd but as soon as I ask these posters that question they normally go offline.

I would not go, but I would urge everyone to play there bluff and demand the plans for the build of this new Stadium. We really need to press them on this to show the charlatans they really are.

Lets not keep banging on about returning to the Ricoh because believe it or not, that is what SISU/Otium want us to do. Without us realising, we are helping them get there grubby hands on the stadium for cheap , if this happens the taxpayers of the city of Coventry will be the biggest loser in this.

So lets demand that they build us a new stadium and provide us and the FL a progress report on this.

I think its worth remembering that Taxi journeys outside the Coventry boundary are non metered, therefore its up to you to negotiate a price with the taxi driver. You might save money, it might cost you more.

Also worth remembering that Coventry buses going outside the city boundary automatically charge a higher fare.

So its not as simple as just an extra mile journey if your using public transport.

To answer OP I'd accept that. I'd fight for within the City boundaries, but if it's a mile or so outside and not blatantly somewhere no-one would class as Cov I'd swallow my pride.

Plas Dol y Moch is owned by the Coventry Education Department. Therefore its perfectly acceptable to build a stadium in North Wales using your logic.
